Many thanks for my critique, much appreciated! Always nice to hear the opinion of someone who isn't your mum/sister/best mate, who pretty much have to say 'Oh yes, that's lovely...' Especially when it's a nice opinion!

Definitely agree that I need to work on a little more creativity in pose and expression - I think my next task is to find a more creative or artistic shoot; something I can sink my teeth into and use to fuel expressions/poses etc :)

Thanks again and have a lovely weekend!

You are welcome =] why don't you think up a concept that you can shoot to thats a bit crazy like, lady gaga, super villain, wild animal, party goer etc? See what photographers there are out there that have a fun edgy portfolio that can shoot you? put out a casting call and see what you get? xx

All the best x

Lestat,

I don't understand what you are trying to do with your work. In my opinion, some of the images are a little taboo, but not in an interesting way more of a disturbing way like this for example:

Why would anyone photograph a children's toy in this context? Do we really need to see someones bum hole this close up? what connection does the toy have with the vagina/bottom its in front of? It doesn't make sense and it honestly disturbs me. I can't even get to technicalities in the lighting or composition because I am shocked and confused at what you are trying to do.

I'm sorry if this is harsh it is just my honest opinion. On reading the title of this image 'bullseye' I can see a potential link from the toy to whats behind it if you were considering the intimate area of a woman to be your 'Bullseye' which, if true, is quite unprofessional. Or maybe I just don't get it?

This really creeps me out. Which is good if that's what you are going for.

A cock candle? is this image beneficial to your portfolio? or any of the other images in your portfolio with this subject?

This image is so over exposed that you cant see her skin or her shape at all. only the clothing which looks a little odd because you cant see her much of her wearing it as she is so overexposed. Sorry hard one to explain.

Why?! I can't understand why anybody would want to mix these props with this area. It doesn't make sense.

I don't feel like you are focused on photography, the amount of photographs on your portfolio that are purely boobs or close up vaginas with strange props e.g. fruit vegetable childrens toys! its all about women's intimate areas and it seems as if the props are a strange way to get those areas involved. why not just shoot art nude?

This is probably the nicest image on your portfolio in my honest opinion

because it makes sense and is more about framing, lighting, subject as a whole etc. not just ass, boobs, vagina.

Photographically, you have the equipment to work with, I would suggest focusing on your lighting, try to avoid getting unwanted shadows in your images and try to spot heal bum spots if possible, (there's on in the 'bullseye' image) Maybe invest in a light meter so you can get your exposure spot on and avoid under/overexposure.

There seems to be alot of humour in you imagery, a dalek holding a nipple and titled 'mama' aliens from toy story being amazed at a boob and a little green soldier on a girls pubic area titled 'grassy knowl' I'm not sure how serious you are with your photography or how seriously you want to be taken. If you enjoy what you are doing then keep going but if you need recognition then maybe try another genre?

I'm sorry if this seems harsh, I've tried to be as honest as possible and maybe I just don't get it.

Lol! I have been away in Amsterdam on my holidays. That's why I have not replied or done any critiques lately. Will continue critiquing very soon!

You've made some insightful comments on other portfolios.

I woud be interested in what you think of mine, plus your opinion on where my photography could go next?

Thanks.

Hi Tim,

Your cover photo is absolutely stunning!

Beautiful composition, lighting and use of a subtle vignette to bring the focus in.

Beautiful lighting, framing, model, location and use of colours.

Fantastic composition and lighting. Your model is perfectly placed in the frame.

Very interesting shot, nice use of the prop and the location is interesting. The Rams skull looks a little bit as if it has been cut out and stuck on because of the lighting and it is super sharp too. A very cool shot.

Interesting location and its good to show your experimentation with the crop. Lovely editing also.

Great shot, a lot of images I have seen with white material and background are overexposed but you have perfected the light levels to make the exposure spot on. Great emotion from your model.

Beautiful image, love the concept and the models pose. The lighting is lovely to show the shapes in your image.

Fantastic angle! so different! beautifully lit and shot.

not so sure on your editing choice in this image, what are you trying to go for? she looks cut out and stuck on in this image.

In my opinion this is your weakest shot, just because of the lighting and because it is quite a cliched image style with the stripey socks and the jumping idea.

Your portfolio is absolutely stunning. I love your location photographs. Your work is of a very high standard and you have worked with some accomplished models. I would suggest carrying on as you are, keep taking unique photos such as this:

Very original with beautiful lighting.

I would suggest shooting some headshots and also some more fashion photos with your unique original style.

Hope this helps.

Thank you GemmieV, insightful as I thought it would be, and it's good to get a independent view.

You are not the first person to think that some of my models are stuck on (including the dam picture as well) which is down to the processing and shooting wide open, so that's something I need to take a look at, and also keeping away from the cliches ;)

I shall also take your thoughts about moving forward into account while planning my shoots next year.
