Team Black

Ian recently booked us for a tuition on tour in West Yorkshire and was a fantastic photographer to work with. He prepared us ahead of time with what he was hoping to achieve, making it easier to tailor the tuition for him, and his pre shoot communications were superb.

During the shoots itself, Ian tethered his camera to his laptop whilst he was shooting, making it super easy for us to review the shots and compare them side by side, to really get the most out of the shoot. He was attentive and happy to listen and didn't hesitate to ask questions, which is always encouraged!

Ian was polite and professional throughout the shoot, and had a very friendly and relaxed attitude, helping to get the best out of the shoot. His photography skills were already fantastic, but with the little tweaks we did during this tuition, the back of camera shots were simply stunning.

We look forward to seeing the final results and 1000% recommend Ian to other creatives.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Ian on a Team Black tuition with Angel Black, and what a pleasure it was. Ian communicated with Angel excellently, so well in fact that Angel was able to relay the information to me and I was perfectly content that I knew exactly what Ian wanted to gain from the tuition.

He arrived on time and after a cup of tea and a tour, we were ready to jump into the shoot. He was polite and professional throughout the shoot, and more than happy to take my advice on board and implemented it throughout the shoot, which you could clearly see in the back of camera results. Ian was happy to ask questions throughout and also happy to listen.

The back of camera shots were amazing and I look forward to seeing what he does with them.

Second time shooting with Ian and once again the full time I was there I was always smiling and laughing. He’s so easy to talk to as he’s so friendly and he offers coffee or tea, he’s so lovely.

His work is amazing too! I always come out of the shoot so confident in myself. He knows all the best angles and lighting and it’s amazing with what he finds and produces.

Would 100% recommend. Can’t wait for my next shoot with him :)

Had my second shoot with Ian yesterday, it was again such a great shoot, Ian always has great communication before hand and has great studio sets filled with props and things to create amazing sets and shots, he is a lovely guy and is always a great laugh, makes you feel comfortable from the get go and is really encouraging throughout the shoots! He offered to take some images of me in November last year and I was nervous to say the least been away from modelling for many years, and I can’t recommend anyone better to work with! Honestly..shooting with Ian is my favourite occupation now,I was waiting for our 3rd shoot and it went amazing. Ian has his unique style and I absolutely admire it, the composition with shadows,light,all set up,stripes of light on the wall,everything works perfectly altogether.Ian has an amazing studio with big windows,which is a very suitable location to shoot with natural light.I can say I spent time with quality and enjoyed it throughout the whole shoot. Ian has very friendly character,is always in a great mood and it genuinely dedicated to true art,he sees the details where another people see only a void. That is an amazing experience to shoot with Ian, it can't went wrong

Had an absolutely fantastic first shoot with this funny, respectful, creative and kind-hearted gent. Honoured that Ian travelled to create with me at my home. The raw images are honestly exceptional! Ian knows just how to use natural light to capture my muscle and other features to do them justice and I truly will treasure the sets of images we created. It's rare that every single image coming out of a shoot is a banger and it took hours to narrow it down to just 40 selects.

If you have the opportunity to work with Ian, please don't pass up on it.

Ian truly is a gifted and amazing photographer. I had my first shoot with him today and I can’t fault him or his work. Despite me being new to the industry he made me feel welcome and comfortable from the minute I met him.

He had so many amazing artistic ideas.

I can’t wait for our next shoot together! He kept my confidence and spirits high with lots of compliments and jokes throughout the shoot. Despite seeing a few previews on the laptop during the shoot, I am so excited too see the final images!

Also, he makes a cracking cup of coffee! 10/10 ❤️

I just had my second shoot with Ian, what can I say , it went amazingly 👏 Ian has his own style and I enjoyed it very much too. The composition of his backgrounds was settled very creatively . He used a lot of interesting ideas, including playing with mirror glimpses, light tubes, etc. Ian is a real artist, such a pleasure to shoot with him. I am very happy with my shoot with Ian,he is just fantastic in all senses. When we met Ian brimmed with positive energy and a great mood. Ian is a very talented photographer, I do think we took best photos during my all carrier ever. Ian has very pleasant personality, I couldn't be even happier with our shoot, everything went amazing. Ian's studio is spacious and diverse, his light settings is impressive.

Ian is a kindred creative spirit. He gave me my first opportunity and since then we have had several shoots.

Utterly inclusive of individual input and supportive of ideas and confidence. He is my go to photographer when I’m in my arty zone.

As well as making a cracking cup of tea, he cares about models safety and transport.

He has beautiful ideas for sets and an infinite prop list! His most poignant quality is his ability to make models feel comfortable and incredibly confident.

I have many many ideas to shoot with Ian- the poor guy can’t get rid of me

I have had a canny few shoots with Ian now, I would recommend him for anyone who wants to create a work of art. Ian’s visions and talent for lighting is exquisite, the images are raw and hold so much energy. I learnt so much about modelling, photography and art from Ian - his shoots are always fun and relaxed and I count myself very lucky to have been able to work with him so often. I’d recommend working with Ian if you haven’t done so - you will learn so much from him. I’m looking forward to our next shoot!

I shot with Ian recently, at his home studio space near Durham - so much damn artistic energy, it was an immense shoot! We shot a mix of moody nudes and implied, then onto the natural light movement shots, played around with sunlight, hair and ribs (Caravaggio darling), and I was an angel for a wee bit too..SUCH a good shoot.

Ian is lovely company, chatty, enthusiastic, very artistic, and brilliant with light/shadow - would highly recommend to all models and creatives. A brilliant human bean.
