This tiny, cheap manual lens manufactured between Sept 1981 & Mar 1983 is beautiful. I shot on D3 & D3X to compare 12MP & 24MP sensor RAW files. My impression is that the old manual Nikkor Ais gives a great look on both D3/D3X sensors. IMO the original 12MP sensor gives stronger, richer colour (similar to the D700's colour) whereas the D3X 24MP sensor gives a sharper result but with higher contrast but more likelihood of blowing out highlights. For portrait purposes the lower resolution D3 looks as good as the X unless you enlarge to enormous magnifications.
