Emily - Leighton House, January 2019 🇬🇧

This second image from Leighton House is a very ordinary portrait of Emily's extra-ordinary beauty. Sadly, none of the museum's architectural splendour can be seen, only a simple terracotta coloured wall serving as a background.

It's a natural light shot taken in a cramped little space at the point where a dark, poorly lit corridor opened up into a bright sunlit gallery. At first sight, not very promising, but I've learnt from experience that in any similar area, a couple of steps back down the corridor is a transition point where the light is not only reflected (and therefore soft), but directional too. Positioning a model in that area nearly always looks good. 😊
