RAF E3D Sentry Aircraft - ZH103 'Happy'

Had to go into Lincoln hospital for a minor op this afternoon so decided on a whim to grab my camera bag as I would be passing RAF Waddington. On the way home saw an E3 Sentry in the circuit, established he was doing 'bump and go' circuits and shot down to a local road I know which is on the approach path. Got the 150-600 fitted with a x1.4 converter on the camera and shot away. Was totally lucky, got the last three circuits the aircraft did and this is the outstanding image of the Batch.

There were 7 RAF Sentry aircraft operated jointly by 8 and 23 Squadrons, til 23 disbanded. All 7 were named after dwarves from 'Snow White & the 7 Dwarves' - ZH103 is 'Happy'.

ZH105 'Sneezy' is no longer flying and has been stripped of all usable parts, and is now a ground test bed researching the deterioration of airframes in older aircraft.
