Shutterworks Studio

We are based at Robins Nest Emporium, Oakley Road (just off Tebourba Way) with free parking, coffee shop and enough vintage goodies to, well, fill a warehouse!

We charge £20 for the first hour's hire, and £10/hr thereafter, with tuition and assistance available weekends and evenings only. Robins Nest is open 10-5:30 Monday to Saturday and 11-5 Sundays, however we can open outside these hours (and actually evenings and weekends are our usual sessions.

Shutterworks Studio is the home of Scott Chalmers Photography, and brings excellent value studio hire and tuition to photographers in and around the South Coast. Hire includes use of the main studio, all lighting, modifiers, backdrops and props. Tuition and assistance from Scott Chalmers is available at an extra charge - £15/hr on top of any hire costs. This can be tailored to your specific needs, covering studio lighting, strobist techniques, Lightroom and Photoshop. We also have a good selection of video equipment and the studio has been host to many music videos.

Studio is 4.6m x 9.4m with ceiling height of 2.25m plus there is a separate dressing area with make-up station. 

Equipment available: 2 x Bowens 400;  2 x Godox AD600; 3 x redhead video lights, 1 x Arri Junior fresnel video light; 1 x Calumet 200; 2 x 60cm softboxes with grids; 3 x 120x80cm softboxes; 2 x 30x90cm stripbox softboxes; 170cm octobox; 140cm octobox; 90cm octobox; 40cm beauty dish with grid and diffuser; 70cm beauty dish; 1m x 2m light panel/reflector which mounts onto a light stand; Nikon and Canon triggers

Snoot, barn doors, reflectors, coloured gels, various paper and fabric backdrops plus black/grey Lastolite popup backdrop. Various other diffusing and reflecting umbrellas.

Props:

Crimson boudoir chair, 1950's pouffe, Dark brown velour chaise, red Chesterfield sofa, green Chesterfield armchair, two black cube stools, white portrait stool, a pack of polystyrene posing blocks, vintage steamer trunk, leather biker jacket, boxing gloves, large black feather fans, wig, red sequinned tutu, chain mail headdress, sun visor, various sunglasses, items of jewellery, empty picture frames, silver lametta curtain, dust sheet, step stool, many yards of fabric including black crushed velvet, red crushed velvet, gold voile, gold crinkled taffeta, red/white striped circus tent fabric.

Backdrops currently available on a chain-driven roller system: Storm Grey, Smoke Grey, Arctic White, Black, Ultra Black, Chestnut, Crimson, Cherry, Carnation, Sulphur, Sky Blue, Lobelia, Sunflower,  plus a fantastic scuzzy, patchy grey dyed fabric backdrop (plus extra for covering posing blocks, furniture etc), plus a vinyl damask roll in dark grey and white.
