About the studio

The Rock Factory Photo Studio is situated in an old stick of rock factory just off abingdon road which has become the artistic centre of blackpool due to the building being populated by artists.

The studio is a small but extremely versatile space.

 

Studio Suitability

The studio is a small studio so longer lenses will be wasted in this space. pretty much anything over an 85mm

Types of bookings the studio is suitable for:

• Portraiture
• Nude Work
• Creative shoots
• Water Droplet Photography
• Commercial work
• Product Photography
• Use as a base while you are shooting in blackpool
• New Photographers due to included lighting assistant

Types of bookings the studio is not suitable for:

• Messy shoots such as flour
• Higher level Adult work
• large groups.

Location

Blackpool town centre just off Abingdon Street.

Approximately a 5min walk from Blackpool North train station

5min walk from north pier.

Hot/Cold Food available from across the road or Sainsburys a 5min walk away.  

Parking

Unfortunately the parking situation isnt great but there are carparks near by with some parking by the Grundy Gallery.

Facilities 

The studio is situated on the third floor of the building. 

Unfortunately there is not wheelchair access. 

The studio has both male and female toilets and a small communual kitchen area with brew making facilities, a fridge and microwave. 

In the studio is a dedicated area for model changing.

Outside of the studio in the ally way there is a lot of graffiti and grungy areas to shoot.

As it currently stands we are currently accepting bookings from april 12th onwards

Studio Setup

The studio is set up to maximise the usage of space as best possible. 

the studio has multiple backdrops in one shooting direction and some more in a right angle.

All lights are situated on boom poles so to free up space on the floor without the need of light stands.

Included Lighting Assistant With Every Booking

The studio is newbie friendly with an experienced photographer on hand to deliver the lighting look you want without the need to alter the lights yourself. 

When they are not adjusting the lights they are there to help make your shoot more easy by assisting and even just making brews and keeping an eye on time.

No you cannot have the studio without the assistant.

Costs and money stuff

The Studio rate is £25 per hour with a minimum of a 2 hour booking. 

This includes the cost of the lighting engineer. 

This is to be paid via bank transfer before the shoot and an invoice and receipt will be provided.

This payment is non refundable unless the studio is unavailable last min due to illness or emergency.

If cancellations have more than 24 hours notice you can rebook a different date to shoot at no cost.

Cancellations shorter than 24 hours notice payment is lost as this could have been booked by someone else. 

Should your shoot overrun (it happens) this shall be at the studios discretion as to if another invoice is issued for the time. 20-30min here or there isnt much to worry about but 1h+ will be billed.

one of the lighting assistants jobs if you wish it to be is to keep you on target time wise.
