I would describe myself as a keen hobbyist photographer with a lot to learn! Most of my experience comes from photographing gymnastics competitions as part of being a coach for the last 23 years. Shooting fast movement, at distance, without a flash and in poor lighting, provided the excuse to invest in quality kit. From that necessity developed a passion for both the technical understanding, and perhaps an eye for what could make a good shoot.

Most of my knowledge is self-taught, although my education and day job are in Digital Multimedia (19 years), so there are parallels which have helped. Photoshop is an old friend!

More recently I’ve started learning the basics of studio photography at Spitfire Studio [link removed] in Swindon, Wiltshire. Henry Wills [link removed] has been supporting me with a range of basic skills to the point where I can be self-sufficient in a studio to practice what I’ve learned. As I said, I’ve got a lot to learn, but I’m really enjoying the process and am keen to develop both my skills and shoot experience.
