Raph Photographer

I’m Raph, short for Raphael, born in Devon but lived in London for last 20 years. My mother called me Raphael because she was pretentious! – I’ve gained my craft shooting music concerts and festivals around the world for artists and bands in all locations including Glastonbury and Coachella! My photos have been used by Mick Jagger, The Strokes, Monica Belluci, BBC, The Times, The Evening Standard, OK Magazine, People Magazine and many others...

I’m branching off into more controlled fashion / art / nude / non-nude photography in varied locations (and shooting my cats!). I don't tend to go for conventional studio setups and I tend to rebound against the glossy photoshop retouch look / thirst traps.

I'm Based in London - only interested in high-concept-high-style fashion shoots/ vintage / nude / something interesting - deeply collaborative - I ultimately aim to bring out the true essence of the model and provide environments that encourage them to be themselves.

My biggest influences are Guy Bourdin  / Nan Goldin / Jean-Loup Sieff / Purienne / David Bailey / Derek Ridgers / Helmut Newton.  I feel like every photo ever has already been taken - so I try and bring the model/subject's unique personality to the fore. That's the only interesting thing left to shoot.

I'm very much into Vintage Vogue style or 1970s Sunday Times Culture Magazine style... I kinda rebel against what I call the "Purpleport filter" ...crushed blacks, s-curve, Lord Of The Rings style colours, po-faced seriousness.....
