My third shoot at Rainbow Studios and my first shoot with the proprietor! Gary has always been a somewhat fun but discrete presence in the office when I have modelled at the studio but on this shoot he was principal artist! Professional and polite but also funny and smart I think we may have spent more time chatting than actually shooting! (My fault I’m sure!!!). But since shibari ties take a while to do, that was okay!

Great professionalism and great rapport - I can’t wait to see the images, but those I saw on back of camera were fantastic.

And I continue to love this studio. It is small but perfectly formed; warm, discrete, well-equipped and packed with interest. The walls are lined with props so there is always something to look at between sets (including a highly permissive stuffed giraffe and a somewhat more judgemental stuffed Dalmatian! Plush toy versions, of course!). I simply love working in this stimulating creative space. Very highly recommended!

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Rainbow Studio for the first time, and I'm eagerly anticipating many more visits in the future. The studio left a lasting impression on me – it boasts a comprehensive inventory of equipment and provides a comfortably warm environment, which was especially conducive to the creation of my underwear and nude shots.

The studio's 400 sq ft space perfectly complements my shooting style, exuding a delightful character that enhances the overall atmosphere. Situated just outside central Manchester, the studio is easily accessible by car, featuring a generously sized parking lot and ample on-street parking. Alternatively, it's a convenient 15-20 minute walk from Piccadilly station.

I was warmly welcomed by Gary, who was readily available in the adjacent office to assist with any equipment requirements. His hospitality and proximity added an extra layer of convenience to my overall experience. I look forward to further exploring the creative possibilities that Rainbow Studio has to offer.

Had the chance to shoot at Rainbow Studio recently for the first time and it was a little gem of a studio. It’s a small studio but with enough height to satisfy everything I wanted to do and packed to the rafters with gear for all sorts of shooting. Flash or continuous, it was there with a range of modifiers that were all in good condition and there was nothing I asked for that Gary didn’t seem to have tucked away somewhere. Gary was also friendly and super helpful if I needed any support. A great little discovery.

Second visit to this small but incredibly well-stocked and exciting studio space. Worked here with a photographer (@FotoStrobe) a few years back, the studio has expanded a little since then with the addition of a Lego-bedecked office space adjacent, meaning there is now more useable space in the studio itself (once you have moved the stuffed giraffe out of the way….!).

Was a lovely space to work in, equipped with roller backdrops and an array of strobe and LED studio lights to suit all occasions. The studio is not large but it feels like an incredibly creative space to work in - and, unlike most studios in Manchester’s converted cotton-mills, it was lovely and warm which is always welcome when working nude.

Studio managers are friendly and welcoming (when not being squashed by the front door!) and make the booking pleasant and warm while discretely disappearing if not needed during the shooting. A very pleasant and welcome experience. Recommended!

The studio has a warm, welcoming and homely feel, equipped with all the props you’d need. It sits within a lovely brick building with loads of character.

Gary is very familiar with his studio and you can tell how proud of it he is which shows in his work and demeanour.

Had my first time experience with rainbow studios yesterday and what a great experience it was loved exploring all the space.

Extremely versatile space.

Warm. Loads of props. Plenty lights.

Booked the studio today (Saturday, 5th of March) and once again Gary did not disappoint. Gary prepared the studio and assisted when necessary, the studio is very accommodating, there's a variety of equipment to use, from props to lights and of course Gary's knowledge and expertise and also good coffee available. I truly recommend this studio located in Ancoats to anyone looking for an affordable and reliable studio, you will not regret it. Gary thank you so so much for you support and availability today, I had an amazing time and hope to return soon.

What a great little studio this is, The studio space itself is not the largest but as long as you watch your feet it's perfectly adequate. What is doesn't lack is lighting and accessories and there are a number of different areas where you can shoot and has plenty of back drops and a nice window scene Gary was on-hand throughout the whole shoot so if you need anything he was right there to sort it, nothing was too much trouble for him. I would definitely use it again or be on hand to step in at short notice. :-)

Had a shoot with photographer (Alientrain) at Rainbow Studio this weekend and was very impressed! Gary was helpful with the equipment and had plenty of tools and props for us to work with. The studio is great if you have just one simple idea or you have a few different themes you want to shoot. Conveniently close to Manchester city centre but just about far enough out from all the shopping madness.

Shot at the studio for the first time with model Ella Jaye. Gary was friendly and was even able to share his knowledge on lighting when i couldn’t quite get the lighting style I was after. Even tho this isn’t the largest studio about, Gary has been able to fit a lot of creative props and lighting equipment into the available space, without losing to much of the floor space. Will definitely be looking to shoot here again.

Rainbow isn't a large studio, but it's purposefully put together, and really well equipped. You can do an awful lot of stuff in a space that's compact, but definitely perfectly sufficient. At a low hourly rate, it's among the best value places I've worked. (And anyone with modelling lamps in position and working has a head start in my book: excellent!)

Gary's a fine host, making tea and sorting some of the more esoteric lights. And there were biscuits...

Three hours passed rapidly, and I'll be delighted to return when I need to shoot in Manchester next.

Very highly recommended, in every way.

Shot for the first time today at Rainbow Studio and what a brilliant space it is. Excellent pre-comms from Gary, who was a fantastic host and on hand to help as required. Great equipment, lots of props if needed and excellent rates. Would highly recommend the studio to any photographer or model out there and look forward to a return visit in the future :)

Shot at the studio for the first time with Timtog20. What a great studio and great host. Would definitely shoot here again! Place was easy to find and had on site parking. It’s a lovely building too! I’d definitely be shooting here again! See you soon !

I've known Gary for some years now as a photographer friend and this was an assisted 4 hours shoot I'd asked Gary to help me with in the lead up to a photo shoot trip to North Wales a couple of days later with the same model as I'd booked for this assisted shoot (SamJaz). We decided to shoot a range of different shoot sets around various parts of the interior of this magnificent old mill building, making use of the available light. We'd agreed that Gary's role would be a kind of 'looking over my shoulder' type role with relevant helpful mentoring guidance. Gary's mentoring input covered mainly where to position myself to achieve the best shots. I found Gary's input very helpful. We achieved absolutely awesome images with an exceptionally talented model. Gary is a very highly competent experienced photographer with excellent technical knowledge and understanding of lighting, composition, etc. He is a very affable guy who makes a shoot fun as well as a professional success. Very highly recommended.

What a cool and quirky studio!

I modelled for a sixties event alongside Carla Monaco followed by a studio day the following day and we couldnt have picked a better studio for it. Not only do they have a well equipped studio, they have the running of the building and the quirky features it holds. So many cool spaces to shoot which was the perfect setting for our duration. Help was on hand by Gary at all times, he was very welcoming and Dave also is a partner with the studio who is equally as lovely. I cant fault this place and recommend people to go check it out :-) Thank you for your hospitality and help throughout the weekend!

Just had a second shoot in Rainbow and yet again a perfect experience!

Gary is really friendly and helpful, and leaves you to it while he takes care of admin elsewhere, but is always on hand for help and advice.

The studio itself is excellent, with sets/props/equipment galore - and take a step outside the studio door and the whole Mill itself becomes a huge location set. Arty/creative/industrial little nooks and crannies everywhere you look!

I’m already discussing plans with the two models I worked with for our next shoot here!

Had my second photoshoot on 1st of July at Rainbow Studios at Hope Mill.

Again I have no complaints and I highly recommend it, rates are accessible, the studio has the required equipment available to be used.

Gary Mack assisted me with the setup and provided guidance when required.

Just had a fantastic shoot at Rainbow Studio and can fully recommend it to any photographer or model who is looking for a well equipped and professional studio.

Perfect location (only a few mins from Picaddily station), great facilities and fantastic equipment.

There were so many lighting, modifier and backdrop options it was amazing.

Already planning my next shoot here - fully recommended!
