Helmut Lubitel Newton

I knew when I booked a shoot with Beth Kate that her toned figure would work perfectly for Helmut Newton-inspired bold nudes. And I'd found an old Lubitel 2 medium format camera among my parents' things, so knew it would add an interesting flavour to this style. We shot a range of poses, and I couldn't decide which was my favourite, but then realized they'd work great side-by-side.

I almost always position poses that are side-on so that they're facing into the centre of the frame, and it was quite unintentional that this also meant the varying position of the camera makes a sinusoidal shape flowing across the image.

It's also great for meta-photos - shooting down through the range finder (more of those to come).
