Bondage and Cosplay
first I would like to say a big thank you for looking at my page on Purple Port. With photography being an excellent pass time and now almost everyone carries a phone camera its hard to get noticed. Also on Port along with the amateurs you have some astounding photographers that are creating beautiful pieces of art. Add to this the Photoshop wizards that make anything from nothing, fantastic make-up artists, lighting than give the image moods and not forgetting the models. In all a huge industry of talented people trying to get their work seen. With the beauty of photograph you never stop learning and never stop seeing art.
I myself am just an amateur but pleased that I am still going. When I started I must confess I knew nothing, that includes RAW and JPEG format, nothing about lighting, editing or model contracts, a real novice. Had to learn the hard way as work makes its impossible to go to collage courses. I still try and learn as we all know the better the image, the better the response
My chosen subject is bondage and I think with this you can do anything, glamour, fitness, fantasy, cos play etc. I do find a damsel in distress ( D.I.D) looks incredible beautiful. With every subjects as the main title you get off shoots. Shibari is the most often used words for the incredible rope patterns that these talented artists (Riggers) can do. Truly amazing work, always jealous as I do not have anyone to practice on ( ropebunny ) and have sausage fingers. Glam bondage is more my sort of style, were the damsel is looking more kind of sexy and you can really use your imagination. You of course, have the darker side were its about male domination over a female. Got nothing against this but just not for me.
The guy who is started comical bondage photograph is Irving Klaw, way back in the 1950's in the USA with his most famous model ( and now icon ) Betty Page. Easy to google and its interesting history to see the he got started and his downfall. What was then taboo is now considered nothing as his short films can be seen on YouTube. All western bondage can really be traced back to him. Easten bondage has a different story but this just goes to show this kink is world wide.
As with all shoots safety must be observed at all times but more so with bondage. I do not know how other togs do it but I give out my real name, address and phone number to the model before a shoot and on first meeting I produce photo I.D. I also go over how proper bondage rope is used ( anything else will hurt bad ) any injuries and never forget the safety scissors. In fact ladies, if you shoot bondage please ask to see them. There is more to add but basically I want the model to know that she is safe, if anything else I will not shoot. A lot of models that do Shibari bondage will only work with certain riggers due to higher safety levels ( eg spinning around upside down )
I shoot most of the time at my home, reason for this is I like to think on my feet. I like to work with the models ideas, she could influence the shoot just by an outfit or a look and need a different background Plus I have props, my studio lights, costumes, smoke machine and even green screen. If the weather is nice, beautiful countryside near by Even if time, take the model out for a meal if she not rushing back.
If you would like to know any more please ask. Happy to work with others and have space if a model needs to sofa surf if touring.
Last thing, happy and safe shoots for everyone not matter what the subject.
