St Gregory and St George's church is of Norman 12th century construction, and one of only six round tower churches in Essex. Pentlow is right on the Essex border near the River Stour and Sudbury, Suffolk. I have a photo archive of more than 90 per cent of the Essex parish churches, leaving out only the urban south of the county bordering London which is not so much fun to explore. Of course historically Essex went right up to West Ham.
