Inspired by the welsh folklore and legends, especially surrounding the lake of Llyn y Fan Fach. It features a collection (named Hen Aelwyd, old heart of home) by knitwear designer, prestigious Central Saint Martins @csm_news graduate and winner of the L'Oreal Professionel Young Talent award, @alice.morell.evans

Inspired by her distorted memories, Morell Evans’ garments celebrate the craft and wassailing traditions of South Wales, where growing up she spent summers with her grandparents. The collection draws on the havoc of Mari Lwyd, the grey mare, a call and response tradition in which a horse skull covered in ribbons and bells parades around town arguing with locals until they allow Mari Lwyd to enter the comfort of their homes for a party. A similar chaos ensued when Morell Evans’ grandparents moved away from Fishguard, South Wales, their furniture and belongings removed from the context of the house. A chandelier, a broken chair and antique tablecloths are then combined with upcycled Melin Tregwynt yarn to create the collection.

The editorial photographs celebrate this heritage and revive the mystical welsh landscape and story of The Lady of the lake. The award winning Photographer Eliška Sky, a Canon Ambassador & Art Director, brings her artistic vision and sense of mystery with the dramatic poses and lighting. The set designer Matthew Lawrence combines materials such as ferns, stones and hand painted backdrop to bring the landscape atmosphere within the studio environment. Reflective material mimics the surface of the lake whilst the smoke represents the evening mist.
