this is a Cockchafer , sometimes called a May Bug , there seemed less of them this year , and later , perhaps as a result of that very late cold spring , I have always loved these clumsy bumbling insects and their drowsy flight on warm Summer evening as the drone about and crash into you and fall into your Dry Martini , this is female , she has more feathers on her antenna than the male , so after saving her from a Giny drowning , I put her in some undergrowth so that she could find somewhere safe to lay her eggs
