Take in the Alps

In my humble experience, such that it is, and on almost every shoot, there comes a moment when the inner beauty of the model I am photographing - I might call it beauty of the soul or spirit - rises to the surface and can be seen. Usually this occurrence lasts but briefly. On a cold grey skied scudding cloud day and thankfully inside Beth Kate’s warm flat, I witnessed a very different version of that phenomenon: not only did I photograph her as that inner form of beauty became perceptible in her expression and bearing, but the loveliness of this occurrence happened very early in the shoot and continued to be apparent until its end!

I am truly blessed; utterly confounded in how that could be :-) ... I heard myself whispering: “what just happened”.

One thing is certain, and having spent five years researching and writing a dissertation (probably explains the length of my references and my sentences :-)))) ) on Robert Wilson, the American theatre director who invented visual theatre and preferred working with dancers rather than actors, my understanding, taken from Wilson’s, is that dancers know everything there is to know about how to display beauty and where to access it. Having learnt this, the best dancers can sustain an embodied sense of beauty for an entire show. For example, being able to do this is an essential attribute of the ballerina.

Beth, as anyone knows her or has worked with her, is a highly trained dancer. And on this shoot she gifted me the entirety of that experience: that extraordinary discipline and commitment to the task in hand; that willingness to conjure up stillness within movement, and inner movement (or movement of the spirit) within external postures of stillness. If we stopped briefly to chat about a direction or change something up in the surroundings, she would resort to being her everyday self: charming and lovely but not in a mode of performance. As soon as we went back to work she seamlessly returned to the level of intense beauty and poise that she had displayed before the interlude. Since her performance on the shoot took place in her flat there was a wonderful and fascinating coming together of dance and the every day actions of ordinary life, such as sitting on the stairs or staring out of the window to check on the weather. Beth was able to weave these very different modes of movement - the instrumental and the aesthetic - into a single thread from which her postures, actions, gestures and expressions emanated.

All this was done by her without prompting, completely naturally and because she is able to absorb information and direction without being thrown by it. Rather, she uses it to guide her performance - a performance that is already underpinned and shaped by the specific disciplines of the dancer I have tried to describe.

Aside from the brilliance of her performance, I should also say that Beth is one of the most delightful women you are ever likely to meet. She seems completely at ease with herself and therefore totally relaxed in any attire or scenario, enabling her to slip into some different clothes as if she were slipping into another storyline. Subtle shifts of mood and narrative are never lost on her; she could be many people - she was on this shoot - but they are also many versions of herself. That’s the level of her ability: to make a new character her own; to understand that it is born out of her skill as a dancer to shape character through the gestures and disciplines of dance.

The shoot with Beth was six hours in duration. The time flew by as it is want to do if you are engrossed and enjoying yourself as I was. The energy and intensity of our work never once flagged. We didn’t even really take any breaks though I offered them (she would say: well, if you want one). I could have continued to work with her long into the night. Knowing what I now know, I can’t wait to work with her again. I’m just so excited about what’s possible with a model that is as skilled and talented as she is.

How can I make this clearer? Beth is a superb model, and quite capable of rescuing an image from less talented photographers. The session went quickly, with Beth providing excellent suggestions, adopting striking poses and being the perfect hostess. She has my highest regard and is an absolute top recommendation.

I spotted one of Beths castings and realised I had missed shooting with her in the past as she was just a couple of miles beyond my search area. Communications with Beth were extremely easy, very prompt replies clear answers and questions that made sense. We arranged a shoot at her flat and I don’t think the shoot could have gone any better, nothing was too much trouble, furniture moved, surfaces cleared, brew made.. ready to shoot. Beth got the theme of the shoot and had a great selection of clothes appropriate for the sets we had planned, she moved effortlessly from pose to pose. Beth not only has a stunning figure but her skin is flawless, she is inelegant understands the business and is a dream to work with. Highly recommended.

Met Beth Kate for the first time yesterday and I can honestly say it was one of the best shoots I have experienced for some time. Pre-shoot communication from Beth was first rate and she kept me well informed on her journey progress up to my home.

Beth is a very professional, polite and friendly young lady. I think we hit it off straight away, she was so easy to work with. Not only a stunning and beautiful figure, Beth has a personality to match.

I had the pleasure and privilege to shoot with Beth for the FOURTH time today! :)

Each shoot with Beth just gets better and better. We shot in her beautiful apartment this time. When I arrived, she was fully prepared for the shoot. Pre-shoot communication was brilliant and Beth is so professional and is meticulous in her attention to detail. She is so beautiful, her figure is incredible (she can literally wear anything or nothing and she looks great), she moves from shot to shot with such grace and elegance, she's great fun, works so hard and a genuinely wonderful person.

I will definitely be booking Beth again very soon.

I had my first shoot with Beth today we did some portraits dance moves and lingerie. Beth is such a fantastic model her poses are so natural and she needs no direction at all, she's that professional.!! Her dance moves were so graceful that her dance training was surely the best and I would really like a three hour dance shoot to see what she can really do, I'm sure I wouldn't be disappointed, being a really warm friendly person and so easy to talk to she's a joy to be with and I can't wait for our next shoot.The images we got today we're just fantastic, and I absolutely one hundred per cent recommend her. What happens when you turn up to a flat you've never seen before to meet a model you've never met before, carrying an assortment of lighting paraphernalia, some inspiration books and the germ of an idea clinging to a kernel of an idea? With Beth, a little bit of fairy dust magic is what. Yes, it's a recommendation from me Bob, as Beth was able to take the inspiration images and concept description and interpret and translate (kinda the same thing, but she's doubly good) perfectly into the look, style and feel of imagery I was hoping for! Prepped and ready to go, she was studious and collaborative in working towards the final results, and all done with a welcoming (it was her flat) and pleasant demeanour; really easy to get along with while remaining focused. Three hours just flew by!

Will we be shooting again... well, I'll be damned if we don't! I can't really recommend any higher than that. Thanks Beth, you were awesome!! We must do it again :)

My second shoot with Beth, this time we worked on some art nude styles. Beth is a real pleasure to work with, she was made up and ready to shoot when I arrived and we were able to rattle through lots of poses in the couple of hours we had (which flew by). Beth is really professional in her approach, her pre-shoot comm’s were excellent and I can not recommend her highly enough. Really hope we get chance to work together again. Thanks Beth.

My third shoot with Beth, and she simply goes from strength to strength! Her dance training, flexibility and strong core simply shine through; no matter how quirky or challenging the ideas I had, she simply brought then to life and nailed every one!

Beth creates beautiful shapes and poses with deceptive ease, and she is an absolute pleasure to be and work with. We're already planning our next shoot for late February 2020, for a duo with a dance theme, so expect more amazing images when that happens!

I am so glad that I found Beth; hugely recommended!

I had my first shoot with Beth Kate at the Natural Light Spaces, we were using their new black infinity curve to produce Fine Art Nude images.

The shoot was a great success mainly because of the efforts of Beth.

Setting up each shot takes quite a few small movements to get the shadows and lights in the right places to giving the effect I was looking for. Beth was very patient with me and also helped with the posing. As a dancer she is very flexible and knows exactly where her body is in relation to the pose required.

Her company was delightful and comments on the images very helpful.

We will be having many more meetings to examine other genre for example dance.

An excellent model and person in every respect.

Shot with Beth at hers on a dance/fitness based theme. Beth's pre-shoot comms were excellent and she had a nice selection of dance and fitness clothing to shoot in. She is a trained dancer so as you would expect poses superbly and with great creativity. Overall a short but fruitful shoot and I hope I can work with her again. Thanks Beth.

Had a great first shoot with Beth at her place today, she is a great model to work with very professional and very easy to get along with. She seems to have a natural modelling ability and strikes a pose with ease, she needs very little direction but is happy to be directed if necessary.

All in all, I'd definitely recommend her to other photographers and I look forward to working with her again in the future.

Had a shoot with the beautiful Beth at her flat, which had a lot of natural light and a good space to shoot from. Beth had a great selection of outfits keep herself in great shape with smooth skin.

She's friendly and easy to work with and remained very dedicated throughout the shoot. Had a lot of lovely images from the shoot and will surely be back for more!

I’ve just returned from my second shoot with the exquisite Beth. She has an amazing toned figure, its clear to see. However, what should also be obvious is that Beth has poise. An old-fashioned word I know, but also a forgotten word, because it’s a forgotten quality! As a dancer Beth has poise in abundance and it shows in her posing, how it shows. It not exaggerated, or false it’s simply an amazing quality and elegance that sets Beth apart from a great many other models.

Thank you so much for a terrific shoot and for being delightful company. I'm in no doubt that shoot number three won’t be that far away.
