Meet and Greet team
Semi-Pro photographer seeking to expand network of people with complementary skills - e.g. Models / MUAs / Stylists / Designers.
I continuously seek to develop new skills and push my own boundaries (but never a model's levels !) , so if you feel like shooting in twilight or after dark, or just want to explore some off-the-wall concept then feel free to drop me a message on PP.
I work mainly on a collaborative basis, and particularly like to shoot in the alt / goth / horror / steampunk / pagan genres. (That said, I am happy to consider most genres if we achieve something beautiful out of it).
Please note that I will *always* tag others involved in the image-making process (model / MUA/ studio, etc) unless specifically asked not to, and expect the same courtesy in return - to me this seems only fair. If I haven't tagged you, it's usually because I didn't find you on PP or didn't manage to get your details after a group shoot - in which case please inbox me or request a tag and I'll happily give you a credit. If you don't wished to be tagged, please let me know at the time (or request removal of a tag via PP after the event) and I will happily oblige.
I undertake wedding work and am happy to act as a 'second shooter' by arrangement.
I have a portable studio (i.e. can do home shoots) and have been known to give lifts to models - I am more than happy to provide references so that you can contact models directly to obtain a character reference should either of these scenarios apply.
When arranging shoots, please be aware of the following:-
1: I expect some degree of communication prior to a shoot (particularly if I am travelling). Please don't expect to arrange the time /place to meet a few hours before the event (or assume that I will start driving to your city in the hope that you will text me en-route with a meeting place when you haven't supplied contact info.....or worse still, plan to email me 30 minutes before the agreed time when I have an hour's drive to get to you).
2: I will always supply a mobile number in case of last-minute problems; hopefully you will do the same in case I am delayed in traffic etc. - that way I can at least let you know.
3: All shoots are booked via the PP calendar - if you don't confirm, my assumption is that you will not be there.
4: If you don't agree a time/place to meet, don't provide a contact number, and fail to answer your emails then please don't be surprised if I cancel the shoot.
5: I often book shoots 2 or 3 months ahead; I will always endeavour to touch base with you (typically 1 to 2 weeks prior to the event) to finalise arrangements.
6: That said, $h1t happens - if there is a genuine problem then we can re-arrange, but if you can't make a shoot, please let me know ASAP. If something comes up at short notice then please text/phone me rather than eMailing since I may not check eMails before setting out (and certainly not whilst driving ! :-) ).
7: Unless specifically agreed in writing I retain copyright to all images, however I have no issues with images being used for social media / portfolios etc. If a model (etc) identifies a sales opportunity then I am happy to share any profit with them.
8: I do expect a credit for any images used, whether that be for portfolio, social media use etc. - for this reason I will not generally supply unwatermarked high-resolution images for TF shoots. If you require unwatermarked images for commercial purposes I am more than happy to discuss rates or come to a mutual arrangement. I'm happy to work with publishers to provide images (often I can supply a higher resolution image / crop to size / retouch / etc to better meet the needs of the publication) and have never withheld consent to publish when asked. Generally any publication will need to clear copyright issues with the photographer anyway so it benefits everybody if we're all in the loop.
9: For TF shoots, 8 to 12 edited images of your choice is reasonable, or one or two shots 'per look'; you will also usually receive copies of any edits which I make for my portfolio. (This number *is* negotiable within reason, but please don't ask for "129 edited images plus two dozen A3 prints" - yes, really, it's happened !)
ALX has 161 references; 160 recommended, 1 not recommended, 0 late cancellation and 0 no-show.
