A Shy Couples Bump Shoot

I had a couple who wanted to record their bump as part of their family story but both really hated having their photo taken.

I came up with a few ideas and silhouettes was one. They really loved this as it showed them both and told the story.

Technicals: One light camera left in front of subjects and feathered to just light the background. One light angled at the back of the male. In editing, although I had shot this in one go I composited two shots so that I had sharp focus on both the man and the woman; focus stacking if you like. Going the comp route meant I could scale and position the woman exactly to balance the image although it's very similar to the standard shot. I used Curves and a mask in PS to darken the silhouettes as some light had bounced around.

I also lightened and boosted contrast on the Polaroid so that you can see the scanned baby in the image.
