how to get an FPI

My first took two weeks, then I had to wait another 10 months or so. There's a thread somewhere, on the Games board I think, where some got them much quicker than that. None of mine include a human model, unless you count a silhouette n the horizon :P. There is an element of luck, along with quality and exposure (and I don't mean the naked kind :P).

I think there's an element of luck and a little bit of sneakyness involved. Of course the photo needs to be good enough to begin with, but I think from there it's a combination of the time of day you uploaded the image, how many people follow you etc. You want the most amount of people to see it in the shortest amount of time. I've got one FPI but honestly I don't think it's all that great of a photo! 

I guess you have to get nominated first?  Then approved or maybe the picture has to pick up a set number of nominations?  In any event I would be surprized and delighted to get one ;) ;)

I got mine about 9 months in and the 2nd in the same week.

As has been discussed a number of times, there's a number of elves who spot awesome images while they use the site; they add images to a queue then they all vote on them.  Any that don't get voted off get scheduled for adding to the front page, but there's a substantial queue at any one time so it can be weeks or even months between getting queued and appearing on the front page.

Shoot awesome images, and then get noticed, exactly the same as an Unlimited member.

As Sensual Art said, you just need to post awesome pictures and get them noticed. I know several free accounts with multiple FPIs.

The only advantage by having a paid account with fpi is having more images to choose from
