How to get an FPI

Lets face it the model always gets the fpi not the photographer as proven in many cases. If the elves do not follow a photographer then there is little or no chance of a fpi. Still I am happy as I get great comments about my images even if the elves never like them. I will just keep doing what I love and love the feedback I get and great compliments from clients

Not sure this is always true either - I recently got two from a shoot I did a couple of years ago with a relatively obscure model who is no longer on PP.
But it is true that images often get a lot more attention if they are posted by the model.

Same here! I just counted 49 FPI's with people who are either not models or on here, or it was their first ever shoot. A couple of them were of my next door neighbour!

You are a scholar and a gentleman :)

Thank you Malbon for your commentary with lots of useful pointers.
For what it is worth my own observations of the sort of image that is more likely to be chosen:
》 almost all have striking thumbnails.
》 they are often strong images with impact, emotion or have narrative.
》 they standout - often being a bit different in some way. Do something different to other people, and do it moderately well, it will often catch people's eye.
》 if they are a fairly standard subject (eg a portrait) they have to be technically exceptional,
》 they are not adult or glamour (unless very well done). NSFW generally has to be sensitively done or 'art'.
》 they have to have be noticed. This is a hard one. Images 'disappear' from view quickly. Post at times that make them more likely to stay high in the Popular images for longer, being 'Suggested' might help a bit (but only a bit). You are very lucky if a Elf trawls your Port looking for images to place in the consideration queue. I suspect many a brilliant image just doesn't get seen by any Elf in the period that follows its upload.
I was lucky enough to be awarded an Pie this morning. It was a surprise as it was not an image I knew could not be replaced. It is nude (but I hope arty). It is with a relatively unknown model. It is a bit different from the norm, striking in shape and movement caught. It was one I thought (in hindsight) could have been better edited. IMHO more striking images from the same series were rejected from the queue previously.
Bottom line. IMHO nothing guarantees you an FPI, so primarily shoot what you love - and try not to get fixated on FPIs. If you really strive for an FPI, make your images stand out from the others both as a thumbnail and in the full image.
Before you ask, I have no part in choosing FPIs.

For what it's worth, several images that I've suggested using the little grey cog have become FPIs, so don't dismiss that route. That may just be random luck, of course!

The best way to get an FPI, is for a model to work with more than 1 of the many photographers on here who already have lots, and vice verse for a photographer.
true datIt hasn't worked for me :(
Me neither and worked with the best

If you want an FPI, and you're not getting any, you need to ask why in the portfolio review forum, where people are allowed to tell you what's wrong.

Complaining about it in here isn't going to get you anywhere.
Two FPIs with non-PP models:

Whilst in general I think Models have the advantage of the images being more likely to be seen by an elf, it's not true in my case - I'm pretty sure I've got a better FPI hit rate than the models where we've both posted the same image.
