My petty self would now be appealing everything and now reporting every single thing she posts for copyright claims across every single social media platform... For about a week, then I'd forget she exists and move on

RaphaelPhoto ok my mistake in my day a professional photographer publically slating another professional photographer ie “ calling them shit” was frowned apon as bad business , must be a new trend I don’t know about.
Edited by ANDY00
"Calling them shit" is what I would have personally done, because I don't give a damn and I am not a professional photographer in the first place.
I have no doubt that Northstar here didn't do it that way, and I quote his own words: "I commented that I disagreed with her", which is perfectly fine.
A viewer saying someone is rubbish is one thing, but another business channel doing it is not the same. Imagine if a model had a YouTube channel, as I know a few do, and then another model with a YouTube channel publicly commented on theirs, saying the other was shit. It’s unprofessional and just bad business. End of. The OP went on, signed in as his professional photography business channel, which is how she clearly knew who he was—so that’s not just a viewer giving critique; it’s one business trying to damage another. That’s how it seems to me, unless she already knew him, in which case things would be even murkier.Where did OP mentioned anything about "professional" or "business channel"?
She knew who he was simply because you just have to click to the comment author's name to be directed to his channel, just like here, it's nothing to do with professional photography in any way.
Look, I will make it very simple, I don't care if you are a professional, the pope or whatever, if you come publicly claiming that you are the best photographer in the UK, you'd better back it up with the material because if you don't, I will have no problem to trash you big time. You don't want that? You don't make these claims, it's very easy, it's called taking accountability for your actions and words. No one can prove they are the "best" anything in the absence of objective tests and art is subjective.
Yes, one more reason not to make these absurd claims. Art is subjective for sure, we all have our sensibilities, but between a pianist who has one year of practice and one who has 10, I'm telling you that you will instantly know who is who when they perform. Photography is the same.

Right, so he goes onto her channel, where she’s all 'I’m the best photographer in the UK!'—that’s called advertising, folks. Then she traces his username back to his channel, because hey, it’s the internet. So, she takes his comment as an attack (which seems pretty clear from what he’s told us) and announces she’ll close his channel down if he doesn’t pay up. He didn’t, so she did. Can’t exactly call her a liar on that one. Sure, anyone can say she’s not the best photographer, but maybe don’t do it with your account linked to your own YouTube channel, unless you’re up for a little social-media gladiator showdown. Lesson learned and all that :-)Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, especially on social media.
I’m sorry the OP has had this trouble, to be honest, but I see YouTube channels and photographers boasting about being amazing on a daily basis and don’t feel the need to correct them. I just scroll on, unsubscribe, or whatever. I mean, if they’re rubbish—at least to you—why bother telling them they aren’t great? Why the need to pull others down who are obviously feeling good about themselves or trying to advertise? I don’t get that. If someone thinks their work is perfect, good on them; I’m jealous—I wish I could feel like that.

Thankyou for the help, I would just like to clarify that I didn't offer any unsolicited critique of her images. I simply asked her why someone claiming to be the best doesn't pay any attention to the focus / lighting etc in her video
I’m honestly thinking this can’t have been said without intent to provoke. If you honestly can’t see this as almost guaranteed to start a slanging match at least, I’m quite surprised.

There's a lot of victim blaming in this thread.
Yes. It is provocative to go onto someone's YT and say "I don't think you're as good as you claim to be". But a proportionate response would be to go to his YT channel and tell him how rubbish it is. That would be tit for tat, and most would agree it was warranted.
But to commit libel in order to get all the OP's YT videos removed is far from proportionate. And far from a reaction a reasonable person should expect.

Voicing critique is one thing.
Fraudulent misrepresentation with the aim to destroy somebody elses presence is a criminal offense.
No excuse for that.

She's obviously got some issues but both sides of this story sound a bit pathetic to me, but I think you can appeal to YouTube and they will check and hopefully re-instate your content.
In the future, if you don't have anything nice or productive to say maybe just don't comment at all. One because it's nice to be nice and two because you never know what kind of crazy the other person is :)

Shrink: "Ray, do you realize the world is full of *ssholes?"
Ray: "And do you know why that is so?"
Shrink: "No, Ray - why is this so?"
Ray: "Because we let them get away with it."

Just a quick follow up on the topic of my YouTube channel content being subjected to malicious copyright claims last week - The lady in question has recently made a video boasting about destroying 27 other YT channels.
I still haven't had a response back from YT but I am not holding my breath, I think this highlights just how vulnerable content creators / photographers can be, especially when you consider how much time, money and effort goes into making some images / videos.
Just to clarify ,the person she is talking about in the video ISNT me, it is someone else ( unknown to me )
It certainly puts a damper on uploading content. The video may contain bad language

NORTHSTAR just a heads up - it says it's been removed when you click on it.
Which is rather a shame as I was quite intrigued as to who this lovely individual is.

I wonder if it was her who removed it or You Tube ... ( she usually deletes incriminating videos to cover her tracks )
