Just outside Falmouth is the Meudon Hotel with its own botanical gardens and its own beach. The restaurant there is very good plus it is great for afternoon tea with its tables in the botanical gardens. Its near Mawnan Smith.

The Idle Rocks in St Mawes - https://idlerocks.com/ - Fabulous location overlooking the Percuil River and towards Falmouth. An average hotel/restaurant wouldn't do well in St Mawes - House prices are ...HIGH ;-)

@QuinnL The Metropole in Padstow had a great restaurant when I stayed here and it is right next door to Rick Stien's seafood restaurant.

Or there are a couple of Rick Stein establishments in Padstow.
The Cornish now call it Padstein I believe, and you will be presented with garlands and awards if you attend restaurants he does not own. ;-)

His main restaurant in Padstow is excellent nonetheless.

Life’s a Beach in Bude - great food and looks out over one of the beaches in Bude (Summerleaze I think) - you will need to book in advance as it is very popular

It's a shame that there are no websites catering for this type of enquiry

Price is not an issue Mike because it is OUR anniversary so HE is paying :D
Edited to add: Oh wow, that does look nice. Can you get a ferry across from Falmouth to save having to drive all the way around?

I can think of many reasons for asking here rather than other sites. Photographers can afford decent meals, at least I hope, and maybe I wanted to raise my profile with Cornish photographers :D

Just checked - See https://www.falriver.co.uk/ferries/st-mawes-ferry/timetable but it looks like the last ferry from St Mawes back to Falmouth is at 18:00. 8D. However, the timetable suggests if you miss the last ferry, then there is a St Mawes Water Taxi ( they give a mobile number) but I suggest checking the cost before deciding ... of course, just remember it is a hotel as well. ;-)

The St Mawes Falmouth Ferry is foot passengers only, but there is the King Harry Car Ferry between Feock and Philleigh but that gets busy in the summer with tourists and there willl be queues and a wait. Also not sure what time it packs in for the evening.
