Absolutely love this band and this song. Adam’s MH struggles really add something special to his lyrical genius. Counting Crows were one of the first really big name bands that I got to photograph.I don’t know if you have ever come across The Glass Child? I feel in love with her voice 6 or 7 years ago and she has a really interesting back story. I love her cover of Round Here. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Not heard this cover before; impressive voice! I just found a video of Frank Turner covering Round Here with his sister :-)
Never did see Counting Crows live, but one of my favourite Adam Duritz things is his duet with Nanci Griffith (RIP) who I adored (and saw live four times) -- Going Back To Georgia.
Round Here is one of those songs that still manages to sneak up on you even when you know it's coming, like Dear Avery by the Decemberists, or Enemy Within by Frida Hyvönen, or the unbelievable Song For Zula by Phosphorescent, or easily half of Tom Waits' Mule Variations. Or There's So Much Energy In Us by Cloud Cult -- from a whole album written after the loss of a child.
I was listening to Song For Zula today just before the Round Here moment.
And then there's the Frida Hyvönen song, which really is an anthem for self-loathing creatives:
You must be true to yourself!
-- I don't know how to do that
No one's going to do that for you
-- I'm not asking them to!

People may have seen the furore about this song because of its supposed support for the IRA. That’s how I discovered it, and despite being a Belfast born, Glasgow Rangers supporting, Protestant I fell in love with The Wolfe Tones and their Irish rebel songs.
