"Suspended from the games " :)

Hmmm, what you have described is not too different to what I do, Bob.
However there may be differences? I do promote my latest image in various games. Any game that suits the picture really but what I don't do is post in them all at the same time. Whenever I sit down for a coffee or tea I post it once. That way I think that I reach a wider audience and don't irritate people or irritate people less.
The other thing that I don't do is post the same image in the same group more than once. (accidents excepted).
What I really consider as "spamming the games" is when members post multiple pictures at once sometimes as many as half a dozen. Such behaviour will earn the culprit a ban from my gadgets.

Perhaps it is surprising to learn that when our lovely Admin is forced to reveal a magic number, say 20, they are then interrogated about why 20 is bad but 19 is not, and on it goes.

Some games that require the previous posters image will probably help your promoting of images, it has a two fold benefit firstly by showing the work of others and it gives an idea of what people choose from your own port, kind of like a quick soft port review. Quite beneficial as others see the image somebody else chose and they take a quick gander too. Posting the same image in different categories multiple times might not have such a beneficial effect.
I personally like the games, breaks up the boredom every now and again.

It reminds me of a video clip that I saw once. The comedian was on stage and said something like 30 years ago, the car battery had a warning on it, saying don’t get the acid on your hands. Now the warning says, don’t drink the acid.

No idea how the games operate, if they were ever part of the default settings I must have switched them off when I joined. So I've no idea why anyone would post the same image 9 times in one day. Seems excessive but having said that you could apply that logic to the number of times people comment on a single thread.
On a survey I recently posted asking models for feedback on why they don't post in the groups, the overwhelming response was that because it was the same people (photographers) constantly repeating themselves. One model suggested a limit on the number of times you could post, which is a pretty good suggestion I think and by the sounds of it is something admin should be implementing in Games as well.

FYI there are over 2,700 games in play
A lot are very similar which could help if there was a tidy up

2.7k? Lmfao.
Posting 10 times would be 0.4% of the potential which over 2 days doesn’t seem unreasonable.
Sounds like there needs to be some nuclear winter cleaning taking place or some clarity on what limits are.
People are encouraged to use the site then complain when some do.
I generally ignore the games as it can be impossible to reply with an image before someone else does.
Maybe games should be an opt in module or enable filtering out of certain areas like games from the recent posts module without opting out of that section entirely so you can choose what’s important to see in your feed
Ps. Russ - People will always moan about any rule you put in place if they think it inconvenience them.

I gave up on the games groups a couple of years ago because of this and similar behaviours: a small number of people repeatedly multi-posting either in one game or across them. Changed the home page group widget to show favourites only and removed games from the favourites. I understand that a bit of self-promotion is needed- we are all doing that, but too many people take the p*** either in the games, in always entering the competitions twice (eg, from a photographer and a retoucher account), in taking every opportunity to post their images in a discussion post (often with little regard to the thread starting out as SFW), etc. I think taking a step back and thinking 'I wonder what other people think of me when I do this' is a useful exercise.

Mick W there’s a favourites only option, that would make things so much better… scoots off to find it

So you did wrong, the lovely Admins people suspended you, and you thought, hey, I’ll start off a thread about it. Why?
To be fair he did have a legitimate question. Posting one image 15 times over two days is plainly spamming. What about 15 times over 15 days ? 3 times in one day ?
Where is the line drawn?
got a posting ban for trolling an individual, I don't think I said anything unusual, but he must have been upset and gone to admin, and they couldn't tell me what specifically I'd said or if I spend most of my time flirting with getting banned.
When to act and what action to take seems to depend on the mood the particular member of admin is in at time. Perhaps it is as simple as whether someone complains or not.

If you click on the main 'Groups' menu your groups are listed with stars down the right-hand side. The stars are 'favourite' toggles.
In the widget, top right drop-down, select 'show only posts from favourite groups'.

Never had this experience but it looks like they clearly need to change the rules, if there is no limit to how many times you can post I guess you have done nothing wrong other than perhaps piss someone off and they may well have complained and you unfortunately bore the brunt of their irritation. Seems a bit unfair to me but in the big scheme of things, you were only trying to promote your image so I really wouldn't worry too much about it. There are loads of us who enjoy seeing your work so keep them coming and admin go easy on the man he is innocent by his intention :) If it happens again I will be getting the FREE BOB banners out. We've got your back :D

trebor images I would apply a simple test - if when I look at the Recent Group Discussions list at any point and the vast majority of posts are by the same person, it is too much - which before I hid a lot of games groups it was, almost every day.
(Y)
In this latter case I'd probably block the offender's group posts (but nothing else) too.
I think the guideline to apply is not "how many is too many" but rather "how can I get the most effective exposure for my picture", and putting them all out there at once is a very poor way of achieving that.
Also: side issue.

I don't participate in games, but if you post rapidly in, say, 6 different games, whether or not it's the same image, you'll have taken up 6 of the top slots in Recent Group Discussions, which seems to me to move at fairly slow pace. Admittedly as soon as someone else posts in one of those games, yours will no longer be the last post, theirs will be. But I can imagine it might simply overwhelm the rest of the Recent Group Discussions topics. I'm not sure that specifically relates to YOU (or an individual) posting over and over. I guess many of the same image in rapid succession seems to be a bit desperate.
From memory, Games posts overwhelming Recent Group Discussions is pretty much why I left the Games group.
