Before anyone says "serves you right " etc etc "about time"... etc etc  - I am not looking for sympathy  but interested in views of an "unwritten rule" and if other members have had this type  incident ,

I had the unfortunate experience of having a three day suspension  imposed on me by purple port admin  - which I am back from now because of spamming the games with one image - my over exuberance  - 9 times on one day and 6 times on the following day --   and have no issue with this apart from  one.

When I asked was there a limit to the number of times you could play in the games section I was told "no there isn't - but you posted the same image too much on two consecutive days"

I assume I upset someone and was reported   - but it does sort of leave this as a bit arbitrary  - as there will be consequences if it is repeated .

It reminds me of the saying "pull your socks up laddie".....  which the correct reply should be  ok but how far ?

I only post one or two images per week and so tend to play the games to promote my image as well as see other people's images which I often will share love, comments and FPI suggestions. - Likewise with The FPI's and recent images.

If you continue to spam the Games group after your suspension, your group participation ability will be further suspended.

Kind regards,
PurplePort Admin Team.

The problem with posting to multiple games groups at the same time is it buries everything else on the Recent Group Posts widget - particularly annoying when I have just posted a share a shoot. As a consequence of one or two serial offenders I have hidden most games groups now.

While I didn’t complain, personally I am glad that admin have taken action, and hope they continue to do so. While imposing a fixed arbitrary limit is probably a bit too far, it is quite obvious when too much is too much.

You're not the only one who "spams" the games group...

It is frustrating as it does bury & hide other posts, as JonC says...

I have no idea what 'games' is/are, but I post far too many times to "what you're listening too", I think I will have to cut that back because it does feel a little unfair posting to it all the time :-(

Me personally I look through recently added most mornings and use my 5 votes, if I have any left I will pop over to the FPI group posts, but if I haven't been on my own profile before hand, my browser defaults to SFW new uploads. I have to tick NSFW to see those too.

I wouldn't let it worry you, after all it's christmas and you have some lovely images.

I don't understand any of this but it does seem as if Admin are applying the principle of "the definition of Porn".

So you did wrong, the lovely Admins people suspended you, and you thought, hey, I’ll start off a thread about it. Why?

To get others’ views? Why shouldn’t he? Seems perfectly reasonable to ask to me…

To the OP, I don’t know much about the games section, but from what you have said, it sounds a little ambiguous if there are no clear guidelines, but I guess in those circumstances, rather than abuse test the system and possibly frustrate others along the way to earn yourself a ban or a reputation, I guess question what actions of others would frustrate you and apply that as a least your guide…but I know some folk are just very supportive of seeing others’ work so don’t mind..

As I said I. My intro - interested in views and if other people have had this experience

I can see how not having "too much" exactly quantified is frustrating, but the limit is implied in their response. The only quantity we have to work with is the amount you were posting, so take that value and do less of it, and you should be good.

I take your point re the reference point

But if for example someone else had had the same punishment for say 5 on day one and five on day two

I could be in Trouble again.

And yes easy answer is just to stop playing games which is an option

trebor images I would apply a simple test - if when I look at the Recent Group Discussions list at any point and the vast majority of posts are by the same person, it is too much - which before I hid a lot of games groups it was, almost every day.

The vagueness of rules can be frustrating.

How much is too much, is it the amount or the frequency as some have said is frustrating due to the impact on the recent posts widget.

Is it the same if you post in different games threads at spaced out periods over the day rather than in a short space of time?

Also, if it’s an issue that more active contributors face, maybe there should be less games in the first place?

I enjoy the games threads but I wouldn't want to flood them as I know that would be annoying to people. I post in their every so often but not all at once, there's a line between being bombarding and trying to show your work and gain exposure so it's just about getting that right.

I get whilst there's no set rule for how many is too much, but just imagine you are another member of the site and all you can see in the widget is loads of game threads and the same person as the last poster, especially if it's the same image over and over again.

I agree with JonC and also have to ask why on earth you wanted to post the same image nine times in a single day.  What were you trying to achieve?

MidgePhoto said, 1734862254

Don't bore other members.

Posting one image a day in one game is clearly OK

Posting several images, once each, spread among several games is OK for a reasonable value of several.

Spamming one image, not. Also what is it supposed to achieve?

Huw said, 1734862468

I don't suppose it occured to them that anyone would post the same image 15 times in two days when they drafted the rules....
