How do you arrange your PP home page?

The answers to this might depend on whether you use the site more on a desktop/laptop screen or more on a mobile device, but I'm curious to know how people arrange the available gadgets on their home page.

(If you didn't know you could arrange them differently, or didn't know that there were more available, check the spanner icon at the top of the home page).

I have:

  • 2 rows of FPIs
  • 2 rows of Group Image Collection, currently set to show a randomised selection from the https://purpleport.com/group/dance-photography/ group
  • 2 rows of Random images - I love dipping into these, as I can regularly come across people whose work I'd either forgotten or who I'd not normally otherwise see, and which provided the inspiration for the https://purpleport.com/group/games/166557/Gems-among-the-Randoms---SFW-only/ post
  • 3 rows of Images I Have Loved, again randomised.  As others have commented on occasion, I can sometimes get caught out by this and think "I love that picture!" only to find that I'd already loved it.  Of all the problems you can have on a site like this, that's one I love to have!
  • 10 My Stuff Activity, though I'm not entirely sure why, given that most of what's in it is either what I've done recently or what is also in the Notifications at the top of the page
  • 10 Recent group discussions.  For this, I show only posts for my favourite groups, and I have only a few favourite groups (e.g. I'm in the politics group but it isn't a favourite).

I specifically don't have Popular or Recent images - I don't find those as inspiring or uplifting as the ones I do have.

What about you, though, and why?

My stuff (5 items)               FPIs (2 rows of 6)

Casting calls (5 calls)          Recent group discussions (10 discussions, favourites only)

This gives me enough of an idea of what's going on without too much noise or too much scrolling.

I find the other collections (groups, randoms, popular, etc) vary too much in quality and style to be worth keeping on the home page.

Several rows of recent, two random, then images I have loved. No popular, no FPI.

Recent: because it is a truer reflection of the work here, it is nice to know where I fit and because there's a lot of overlooked work.

Random: because it's fun and I've been here long enough on and off that it sometimes brings back images I miss.

Images I have loved: because I want to be reminded of work that I find inspiring.

No popular photos widget: because I think it is often narrow aesthetically (or frankly it is softcore porn when you view it late at night) and I don't know why people want to be influenced by what other people like. I cut down my social media to avoid popularity contests.

No FPI: for the same reason. It's another popularity contest, with an additional aesthetic conformity pressures.

Interestingly I had forgotten about random images, just tried it, hit and miss as expected. But when I went to more you could select fpi's only but it doesn't look like you can set that for the widget itself unfortunately (for me)

Try the Randoms page with the SFW filter - a rather lower proportion of miss, I find!

I don't know whether it's still the case, but I found a post from about 8 years ago which told me that the default set of gadgets is

  • Competitions
  • FPIs
  • groups
  • casting calls
  • activity
  • shoutbox

Can anyone confirm whether this is still the default set?

I can’t confirm if the above is the default setting, been too many years with my homepage as it is, which is:

  • Competition gadget
  • 5 rows of FPIs
  • 6 rows of popular images 
  • 6 rows of recent images from people I follow (makes sure I don’t miss images from my personal favourite creatives)
  • 4 rows of recent images
  • The shoutbox (but debating why I have this and may replace with more rows of images)
