AshleyAshton From April I'll be living in North Wales 20+days a month till November, So I'll be on the lookout for any models coming to North Wales for shoots, and on the odd days that I go home which will be Tuesday to Friday I might be able to do the odd local studio shoot for a couple of hours in the mornings.
It's going to be fun searching parts of North Wales for locations in April and May, I've know of some area's already but need to expand all options.
Let's hope it's a hot summer in the UK.
I'm looking at doing more wildlife photography as I don't think theirs many models in North Wales so I'm on the lookout for a 200mm to 600mm lens after xmas.
There are a few models in N Wales Alawpx Forest Pixie and Chloe Welsh to name but 3. You also have Splash Point Studio in Rhyl that gets travelling models plus Liverpool and the Wirral are not that far away for models to travel or for you to travel to them so you have Demicore Infinity Model and Everly Rose that I can think of off the top of my head

Orson Carter it's a chartered cruise on a tour, with an astronomer and the Press Association. Can send you details if interested, just message me if so :)

Thanks, but I'll have to make do with being envious. I'm old and creaky, and I don't have the energy for such expeditions these days. Damn; bother; blast.
Just one request... Please don't flaunt the resultant pictures in front of me. I can cope with moderate envy, but not with extreme heavy-duty envy. :)

Sadly, I think I’m going to tie up a few loose ends (shoots with a few models who are top of my list/I have shot before and like working with) and then quit shooting people. Generally not happy with the quality of my work and the key to improving (practice, practice, practice) involves time I don’t really have. So will be going back to doing the odd bit of landscape work here and there I think. Maybe some food stuff.

In the most polite sort of way can I ask you not to keep on telling me how lovely it is shooting models in Portugal.
I have just returned from a few days shooting there and while I can say it was fabulously lovely, as was the model,I am now into enduring "the bleak mid-winter" without respite.
Being continually reminded of what I am missing is not good for my mental health.
Particularly as I have little idea of what I am likely to be doing anyway.!!!!!!!!!

Now come on, Mr.P. What's wrong with Rubery and Lower Gornal? I'm told they're lovely this time of year.

:) Look from the positive side, you made it all the way here and shot some great shots, enjoyed the weather and all the other things this lovely place can offer.
Give me a call/poke me next time so I can show you some gems around :)

David Wilcock in comparison to what? 😅🤣 ... you have some lovely images .
I suppose things do take time, but if it's a hobby you enjoy then surely you'd likely make time for it .

I think you might be too hard on yourself here, but I'm not actually convinced that once you get to your technical level, the key to improving is really practice.
I think the key to improving is a kind of self-reflection and analysis, really. Go to some exhibitions, get some books, spend time thinking about what you would *want* to shoot that changes your game a bit. What's missing? What inspires you? Then come back to it.
I'm totally of the view that one can improve between shoots.

I had a bit of an epiphany today that's made my change my view of life for 2025 that I've alluded to up thread.
In short, I've been trying to shoot as many different models as I can and I'm not sure now that's the right approach. Yes, you told me so.
But I've realised after an amazing second shoot with someone I got on like a house on fire with during Shoot 1, that having a smaller circle of "muses" actually is a better approach. You can build stronger relationships, you're more comfortable with each other, and it makes for a better collaborative environment.
So yeah, in the words of Kyle (or was it Stan?) "I've learned something today."
