We should be helping each other, not hurting each other

Gothic Image because this is what the OP started the thread on.

I don't think you'll find she did?

“Will give them a look. Not big on groups due to being on badly run groups when I started. Also the sense of everyone shooting the same thing doesn't appeal.

But groups with a focus on things like lighting are worth while. Bit more tangible to the skillset.“

No, me neither. I generally hate more than one photographer shooting me at the same time. To be fair, I’ve never attended a @uk.shooters event, but a few of my friends have & some on multiple occasions, (they are exceptional models) and the results are super.. mind-blowing actually. Deffo go check out their Instagram page - I hope this turns into a link: www.instagram.com/uk.shooters

Quote: since the increased momentum of elaborately styled events in gorgeous & interesting locations, more photographers who generally do not have a specific objective seem to be exploring fashion photography where they perhaps hadn’t before.

I would add to this, that those shoots happen because of collaborations between the models, stylists, photographers and finding the locations. That would be a difficult project to do without connections. It's really great that it then inspires others to try that style

Quote: people are largely unimaginative because thinking for themselves, especially when too much choice is involved is hard work. I get overwhelmed too, and I live for it.. I still have a hard time envisioning stuff!

That's where collaborations comes in. Everyone can't be all-creative. Self- doubt can be crippling and can keep people from pushing themselves.

Quote: There’s generally too much judgement - I’ve heard all sorts of rude & unnecessary comments about social media collabs between models & designers, implying & even outright describing it as inflated ego rubbish / not a real job, all because the model is also the photographer. For some reason this is still seen to be unorthodox over here.

I do photography and I shoot many of my own projects, because I was so frustrated with photographers not wanting to shoot anything other than portraits or implied to nude. When I mention fashion, I either get comments saying I'm not fashion and I should be doing something else, or I get comments saying that fashion requires too much effort from lighting, studio, mua, hair, wardrobe and frankly, they don't want to have to think about that.

Fashion does not have to require a big budget. What is required is finding help to create what you want to achieve.

The disparaging comments towards models and influencers online are coming from a place of not understanding or wanting to understand the changing landscape. There is no money in the shoot to print industry anymore, but taking pictures has never been so popular. You could still do what you love on Instagram ( with a lot of work to build a following) and find some amazing people. It's also achievable on PP. This platform has many many incredible talents, but a small faction, keeps hijacking things and is stunting any growth on here.

Gothic Image my mistake. It's been a long conversation and I've remembered that OP focuses on TFP on here but not necessarily the focus on this post.

That's on them. Also highlights the difficulty of finding people to network with if that's the outlook.

"Fashion does not have to require a big budget. What is required is finding help to create what you want to achieve."

I want to believe this but this a world where people want their compensation. You do need the resource to do it at a standard. And that in my eyes is where it becomes difficult.

"Pervy photographers wants to see naked women thats why!! Ive applied for numerous of fashion shoots on pp and i too get no responses to shoots! Theyl reply and say im not the right one and thats becos i refuse to take my clothes off!! Show more ul get more shoots!! Whats the world coming to ayyyy 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈"

tandi

"Sorry you are being overlooked but I would imagine that an unlimited number of models on PP all want paid work for SFW projects. In my opinion Photographers seem to have one single goal, they all they want to create the best imagery they can and show their work so others can enjoy it, part of that is using the best models applying for a casting especially if they are paying for modelling. You can choose not to do nudity/topless or any of the other higher levels because it isn't for you, but models and photographers who do those levels have a right to do it if they want to, without anyone assuming that they are perves if they do?"

I agree with you Tandi. But here it's easier to just lump everyone as then same and generalise.

Don't worry - as you say, it's been a very long thread!

Just to put some context into this thread as it has now gone down various rabbit holes of tf, big collabs and fashion, with a smattering of advice on what others should shoot, none of which has any appeal as to the wireless of looking for the forums to be the right vehicle.

I have a very clear vision of what I am looking to achieve and where I want to go and the two most obvious things to me since covid is very few models close enough to me either cast or put much effort into posting new work, so look almost inactive.

I follow a few and they post almost daily on ig. I post almost daily on ig but seldom on here now.

You could solve a lot of problems I think by making this site more appealing to use both in terms of function and feel.

A few people hammer the castings and a few people hammer the forums, but that doesn't make them bookable.

The forums are historically a place where people come to lecture, argue or preach and those are not qualities to help find the right people for me and I suspect a lot of others. This thread itself has its fair share of preaching and even some nude shaming which is failing the opening premise of the thread.

Personally encouraging far more frequent updating of profiles, uploading new work and castings will encourage far more people to find each other

Don't you just hate it when people get the words forming an acronym wrong? ;)

I'm one of the worst people for being passive-aggressive, rather than directly confrontational, but sometimes I do that pre-moderation thing and decide not to post something like "interesting to see how many versions of the same photo seem to have all got over x thousand views...

I'm just being a twat today, don't worry!

But then - here comes that passive-aggressive bit again - I'm clearly just a pervy photographer as a lot of my portfolio is nude imagery.
