Admin Ticket over unsolicited

I think you must be right, I'm going to be mortified if I actually criticised someone's image. Saying that If someone says "wonderfully lit composition" is that a critique and would that get reported?

Weirdly I got a notification today stating, ‘We just had to do a few tweaks to your portfolio comments because of the following reasons): Contains NSFW images’

Having had a look at my port it seems that a promotion video I embedded with examples from my work has been removed. My whole portfolio has NSFW images but a 2 minute video in the same workspace showing slides of the same work has been removed. Totally without logic. Seems like some admins are just trying to justify their paycheck by appearing busy! 🤷‍♂️

Does this mean that models with showcase and other videos are going to get removed if they fall into the PP NSFW category?

Our image safety can filter images you upload to your portfolio, but it doesn't work on embedded videos or images added to portfolio notes, which is why when you edit your portfolio notes it clearly says:

  • Do not add NSFW content.

Can anyone explain this to me please, I don't get it. I rarely comment on images and yesterday only did to tell them I suggested it for FPI?

Hello,

We have removed one of your image comments because you provided unsolicited critique.

Unsolicited critique is not welcome on PurplePort. You should not provide anyone with unsolicited critique anywhere on PurplePort, as per our Site Guidelines in Terms of use for PurplePort:

  • Unsolicited critique is unwelcome. You may lose the ability to post in groups, leave image comments or blog comments, for a time, or permanently if you do it.

We will temporarily suspend your ability to leave comments on PurplePort (this includes images, blog posts, events and albums) if you continue to provide unsolicited critique after this warning.

Kind regards,
PurplePort Admin Team.

We have replied to your support ticket to explain why (which had nothing to do with your comment suggesting an image as an FPI!).

Hopefully, everything is cleared now :)

It will have been reported to admin by someone as they don’t trawl images looking for comments to delete

Thank you yes, and I have to say that admin was correct it was a critique. Thanks for letting me know

Maybe there is new Admin who is taking their own stance on reports. I also received a Ticket yesterday and can't find any reference to a rule I broke. Not going to discuss it here. It is what it is and nothing will change, so no point discussing. I would just move on.

Is that something relatively new? The embedded video’s been on my port for several years.

The filter aspect does now make sense though.

OriginalSin No, it's not new! The rule has been around for many, many years. We don't actively police this and rely on community reporting.

There are no new Admins - we're the same team as always!

If you aren't sure why you have received a support ticket, please reply to the support ticket, and our lovely Admin will be happy to help you :)

It’s taken 5 years before someone snitched on me then! 😂 Who said crime doesn’t pay! The content was a bit dated anyway so it’s no biggie. I was just confused by the notification.

The simple answer to your question is site rules do not allow "critique" in image comments.

Exactly what "critique" means is open to interpretation so it's best to ask yourself before posting a comment "could this be taken as critique?"

While there seems to be no objection to positive comments ("fab image"), critique can take many forms, both positive and negative. If your comment could be taken in any way as a criticism of the picture, or as casting doubt on its integrity, for example, then re-phrase it.

Regrettably there seems to be no rule against crass comments, but that's another debate.

I checked the notification you received and thought that "portfolio comments" is a bit confusing and it should be "portfolio notes", so we're going to update the notification and change it, which is thanks really to you raising it here! So thank you!:)
