Best Photographers on Purpleport

Speaking as someone who rarely gets awarded an FPI but appreciates most of the images that get that accolade, your request is targeting an unsatisfactory outcome. It is not hard to come to the conclusion that most FPI images fit a formula, one that don't aspire to in my photography. So if you want to follow the trend and achieve likes carry on or if you want to achieve satisfaction in creating your own style and self respect, go your own way.

I find having been here a few years that I look at whats posted each day and see what takes my eye, i might then love the image and maybe follow the photographer and or model.
Then you start to build a connection which will feed you more of their work as they post it.
by all means pop into my portfolio tandi, you might not like it but then again you might find some you like
Sorry this should have been posted from my photographers profile RAWing Waves

Hi Steve, I had already viewed you profile and FPI's, I loved every single one of your FPI's they were fantastic. Some of the boudoir, glamour, fetish is not for me but I still really appreciate the artistry and creativity that goes into every photograph, hope you won't mind a follow from me :-)

Thanks I have followed, some of your work reminds me of Jack Vettriano's Fetish and Boudoir work, lesser known publicly but still provocative and beautiful.

it depends what you like. what one person thinks is a good photographer another may not like their work and vice versa. have a look through all the recent images and start following a few people and you'll eventually get a flavour for what you thinks good.
there are lots of good photographers on purpleport so you won't find it difficult to find a few that you like.

Thanks Dave, everyone seems to think that I want to view FPI ranking for different reasons. Some may thing I wish to copy some kind of formula, some think I may admire work that they consider not deserving of the award, whatever the reason everyone else thinks I have asked the question, it is purely because the amount of content on purpleport is overwhelming, if I could shortcut to some really great work that photographers and potentially models have highlighted for us to view, I'd love the opportunity of seeing creators in rankings order, whether I agree with the rankings or not.
In hindsight I can see that this was a mistake, even though competitions every year do exactly that, whether judged by professionals or the public. To rank photographers on here would possibly only lead to complaints of preferential treatments and that's not helpful to the site or the even balanced judging of imagery.
With regards to your own work, I too love B&W, I too do my own thing and do not strive for any FPI's at my age or my husbands skill level, but it's always nice to get a like isn't it ;-)

Using FPI’s to ‘gauge’ members of PP seems plausible enough when viewed from within the PP bubble. What I mean is that if you’re purely focussed on gaining PP FPI’s, then if you could access such a ‘charts’ list, you could find the photographers to approach and the models to ‘study’.
But be clear that PP is a little bubble in the big boiling photographic cauldron. When I view the FPI’s, the majority come across as great examples of what makes a deeply cliched and poorly conceived and/or executed photograph. I ‘love’ the ones I genuinely think are actually great; most days that’s none of them. I’m not being snotty or obtuse; in my experience the typical FPI has nothing to interest those within the commercial, editorial or art sectors of photography, and most would be viewed as as flawed and irrelevant in one or more ways by those sectors.
In lieu of having an actual FPI charts list, you could begin to create collections of images by photographers and models that you admire, or you find have lots of FPI’s. Most photos have a ‘Collect’ button above them that you can use to add them into collections you personally curate. Each collection can be made public or kept private. Over time you could create your own ‘chart’ lists this way.

Opinions vary somewhat but I naively attempt to encourage folk to add other (ie not themselves) quality photographers here.

Your post are always coherent and succinctly put and I appreciate the sentiment. I wouldn't feel comfortable collecting other peoples work/copyright but I do enjoy seeing other creative works.
My husband and I have always been in Art in one way or another and loved Art since we met 34 years ago, it is what binds us together. Neither my husband or I look at an FPI and begin by being critical over lighting, composition, posing, makeup, set design or any other minor details, some of the best photography in my opinion has been simple, basic, thought provoking, something that makes you think about the artwork, not in a professional way applying all the rules of lighting, posing and composition, but freeing yourself from that to just enjoy something original.

I'm new so if anyone can help, I love to know if there is anyway to see who the Best Photographers in rankings order, whether that's based upon FPI or Loves?
It would also be nice to filter the data into SFW and NSFW?
The number of loves or FPIs a photographer has is not a testament to their ability relative to other photographers here. Activity, length of membership and personality all factor into the amount of engagement a photographer has had but have no correlation to the inherent ability of a photographer.
Even if there were a way to list photographers by number of FPIs, or ratio of FPIs per upload, or total number of loves, or average number of loves (and there isn't a built-in way to achieve any of this), it still wouldn't be a reflection on who the 'best photographers' were.
'Best' is such a subjective and relative term, too. Because some photographers can be really good at lighting, for instance. Or some can excel at certain genres or styles. So you'd need to consider what you think they need to be the 'best' at (which would derive from your personal interests or needs), and then all you can really do is ask for recommendations from other users.
If you can perhaps share what it is you are interested in, or if there's something you need from a photographer, people might be able to make recommendations.
But no, there's no way to objectively rank photographers on PurplePort at this time. But, you can filter out NSFW content on image searches and you also can search for photographers based on the styles they work with, so when looking for photographers (unranked) you can still adjust the search settings to your preferences - I'm not sure if that helps narrow down what you're looking for, but as you'd mentioned you were new I thought I'd mention just in case you hadn't fully explored the search function yet.

PP collections are like ‘Popular Images’ or ‘FPI’s’ … they only exist whilst you’re logged into this site, not on your hard drive or some other interweb domain. Every PP user can exclude their images for being added to collections. Most do not. Suggestion: Create a private collection. Name it ‘Uppity Togs’ maybe. You can then with full ‘approval’ add one of my images to pop your PP collection cherry.

For what it's worth, "collecting" an image is also a sign of appreciation, in addition to loving/commenting, etc. Collections are just personal lists of images that really speak to a person. Some use them as moodboards or inspiration boards for projects, themes or ideas they want to work on. Either is fine here. If people didn't want their images to be collected, there's a way (I'm fairly certain) to disable this feature. Ergo, if you otherwise could collect an image it's assumed that the person is okay with this.
