There is one space left under "member tags" when you upload an image.
Like "Photographer", "model", etc.Maybe it should be compulsory to add an "AI" tag?
"AI Wizard" - MidJourney, etc. - seems unfair to take the credit away from the machine that did the real work ;)
should be one to give credit to the camera processor for all those shooting in auto also then yes ? sinse technically they are using AI techEdited by Retouchguy
How do you know that, then? I really don't understand why this is so difficult! :-(

How much AI should we allow?
i cannot see a way to police it can you ? i think it comes down to being honest about how much has gone into a picture thats created, i appreciate its a difficult thing to plan but this will not be the only site that has to find a way to navigate itNope, can't think of anything since asking people to be honest is too much to ask.
in fairness its not just photographers, models themselves are uploading self edited images these days Russ. i honestly cannot see a way to police it at all, as i said models are using ai on smart phone as are some photographers now, and i think its just another type of VFX of typesDo you think we should have no restrictions on accounts joining and image uploads?
maybe put a vote up don't think its something that one person can say its a very diverse issue which will only get more complicated moving forward
I'm not asking you to decide what PurplePort should do, I'm asking for your opinion.
You'll need an opinion to vote on it, and you clearly have an opinion.

Simply put, but not perhaps easy to explain: not so much that models come away with a false impression of a photographer's photographic ability. Isn't that why models look at a photographer's PP portfolio?

"AI" images will likely be sufficiently good in the near future as to make it extremely difficult to spot; it's already fooling a lot of casual viewers..
...
I totally agree.
Should we remove the no AI rule and let the chips fall where they may?
Depends on your vision for the site, the day of the week, and the phase of the moon. :)
There are good arguments on both sides, as well as a whole lot of bad arguments. As I see it personally, if painters, sculptors, and photoshop wizards are acceptable categories, "AI" might have a place here.
One key point, though: a rule that can't be enforced (because the 'crime' is invisible) is rarely a good idea. We've all seen what happens when ambiguous or overly broad laws get passed: uneven enforcement is the smallest artefact. And even trying to police its use by subject vs background, or percentage of the image, or whatever is going to be a nightmare. Model Mayhem had a percentage rule distinguishing 'Mature' from 'unacceptable'; it didn't work all that well. Heck, even Meta's algorithms and bots hassle the innocent and permit some guilty folks--and I strongly suspect Meta has more money than PP to try to police the problem of what's acceptable vs what isn't.

For me i think it should be allowed as i cannot see a way to put the genie back in the box, especially since the technology is unbedding in everything at the moment

Your camera choosing your shoot setting for you on available light, subject speed etc that's a type of AI as in it wasn't your intelligence that came to the conclusion those settings would capture a correctly exposed image, the camera chose for you

I'll just change Clarke's second law to make it a little more relevant to today: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from AI.

No, it's probably just a simple algorithm; cameras were doing that long before marketeers decided to apply the term "AI" to everything in order to make it sound sexy.
This is going to sound rude although it honestly isn't intended to be, but perhaps you should do some research on what AI actually is?

How about "anything that a marketeer could possibly describe as AI, will be"? :-)
(Until the next sexy term comes along, of course!)

and people shooting with mobile phones ? that can manipulate backgrounds and subjects , lighting, add filters pre shooting ? that an algorithm ?, IT's irrelevant, its not your knowledge taking the image and that's the argument, its not the people pressing generate on the ai that are editing a picture and therefore not there knowledge, it was fine if they do it manually but not with auto generate, so why is it ok for photographers and models, everyone should be bound with same rules :-)

I give up! This really needs a session over a couple of pints in the pub! :-)

I’m not too sure of the ramifications of allowing Ai art. Ironically there’s probably an Ai use case to predict it!
models wanting tf from a “fake” photographer based on their ai portfolio
competition entries , one guy using 10+ years of skill could be trumped by a talentless person using 4-7 words typed into midjourney as long as they’ve just a good level of taste.
Fpis, no comments needed
if Ai art takes off it could change the whole feel of the website, how would that effect photographers and models, would they be less interested in contributing etc?
There’s probably a million other considerations, including the fact I’ve spent way too long thinking about this stuff when I could have been doing something vaguely productive.
