If someone gave you $20,000 tomorrow, what would you spend it on?

assuming that's £15k GBP id stick 5 grand of that in my current account to make life a bit easier for a while ie weekend breaks, more takeaways, cafe stops, nibbles and treats etc + get car fixed and debts all clear. the remaining 10 grand would go into stocks shares currencies and other similar gambling projects :)

To paraphrase George Best on 'Wogan' many moons ago...
I'd spend $14,000 on drink, $5,000 on drugs and the rest I'd just waste! 😁
(This wasn't the original quote as I don't think it has aged very well)

Put it in the bank, it won't last long, not long enough to make any difference. Money washes through my hands like water these days the way inflation is going.

I'd give 5 grand to my friend...she had a nervous breakdown before Christmas and hasn't been able to work and is now in debt to her landlord. She hates the house she lives in but can't look for a mutual exchange until she is debt free , but while she is on the sick her benefits don't cover her rent so she is in a bit of a no win situation.

the prizes on the purpleport competition could be made more interesting with a little extra cash. I had in mind the kind of random stuff you might win on Larry Grasons Generation Game, such as fruit and veg, a vacuum cleaner, stepladder etc and obviously a decent camera at some point, tripod, lenses, maybe a shoot at a studio or 4hrs model hire would be quite good. I wouldn't mind chipping in for some of these.

I'd like to think that I would be virtuous and give a large portion of it to charity... the reality is that I'd probably mostly fritter it away.

As an aside the Red Cross are doubling donations right now, it’s worth checking with your bank, even a couple of quid helps

Invest it in 2 /3 /4 casks of fine single malt whisky, prices are going to rise significantly faster than any other commodity (I think) in the next few years especially as the India market is going to really take off..

Interestingly Mrs E and I have received a couple of small inheritance’s recently that amount to almost this amount.
We have given some of it to our son, spent some of it on the house and garden and the rest will tide Mrs E over until Mrs E starts drawing her various pensions in June.
I do realise that we are in a good financial position compared to many people, but £20k really doesn’t go far in 2022.
