On Saturday, i held a shoot for charity in which, thanks to PP, i was able to invite members of this wonderful site, to the shoot, both male and female, togs and models.
So i invited them (ask them and they shall come (yeah right)).
Anyway 18 creatives, decided they wanted to come to the event, and put themselves as 'will be attending', so you would think that they would, wouldnt you?
Another 7 creatives added themselves to the 'maybe attending' section.
So, i actually got 2 models attending and 2 more due to the kindness of of a great lady from Manchester and her friend.
I ended up with 3 photographers attending and it was a shoot raising monies for Derby Childrens Hospital.
Unfortunately, after paying the rent on the great studio, and buying refreshments for both togs and models, i was hugely (hundreds) out of pocket. Yup, you have to smile, these things happen, just try harder next time.
But...... and here's the rub, in my book, if you say your attending, your attending.... you've told the world you are attending, you had reminders in the weeks up to the event to pull out, and as you had reminders, you cannot say you weren't told.
Now, it brings me back to my bug bear with this site......
Are you coming to my event? yes? wonderful
Isnt that all it needs?
'Maybe' isnt hither nor yon, and 'no' is not needed anyway, after all why would you need to know a model or a tog isnt coming to the show? you dont, it's a waste of pixels and time..... 'YES, i will be attending' is all you need, the rest is superfluous.
If they cancel, they remove themselves from the 'i will be attending', it must surely be that easy and not confusing.
I had a chap who 'might be attending' put his name down then reported me to PP as despite his photograph appearing on the 'might be' he swore he never did (his photo is still there, and he still swears he never did)
A simplified page would be a one question (are you coming) , one answer (yes) then booked on the same page. If you decide its not for you or the cat's ill, a simple 'delete booking' button would suffice that not only the model could use, but the tog could too. (the ability to have a tog or model cancel is paramount, always.)
So, in closing before i bore you all.....
I'm advocating a 'i will be attending' and the removal of the other 2 wastes of space, in favour of a drop down diary to confirm and lock in the attendance. Nothing else needed, if you dont know your going to attend yet, then dont book! surely thats the easy and less frustrating way of running an event, or being a model?
'will be attending' is a booking in my 'book', and should be seen as such on the event page. Needless to say, i am cogniscent that saturday was a bad weather day, but its monday and no apologies.....
I feel it needs cleaning up and streamlining.
Sorry about the rant, my affliction makes me see a lot, and sometimes i see very little and get things wrong, in which case i apologise in advance.
