Models - Do you tick glamour because it's an option?

Not for the first time, I realised I wasted almost a whole day trying to shoot glamour with a most beautiful, pretty young model who was fabulous, but not glamorous ... this was absolutely MY fault NOT hers.

I'm sure real models must experience this situation unfolding on shoots all the time, even if they weren't expecting a glamour shoot - but I'm guessing it's probably more train crash than happy ending.

So, do you tick glamour because it's an option or, do you really 'understand' and 'deliver' glamour? Are you actually glamourous, or do you just throw a few bits of lingerie in a bag and hope for the best?

Have you ever seen the results of a shoot and thought, WOW, I am glamorous?

Have you ever left a shoot, gone home and un-ticked glamour? Or, maybe visa versa?

Just askin' :-)

Glamour covers a wide spectrum, everyone will have their own view on what is glamorous.... :-)

That's why I didn't tick glamour I was a little confused at the concept will the photographer expect nude if I tick glamour or poses that I would like e.g wide shot of bum what did it mean so to be safe I un ticked glamour doesn't mean that if I did a shot that was on the glamour side but I felt comfortable with it that I wouldn't not use it.

Glamour is so hard to explain, I shoot Glamour but what i call Glamour may be different to what another model calls Glamour

We all shoot what we want to shoot, if a photographer wants something different to the model then its not going to work

I didn't check it, I just don't have a body that oozes sexuality. I did try some for a laugh at the end of the shoot and they were not great- although I did have on my pikachu ears and red cheeks. I gigure the only people that would get off on those would be Japanese teenage boys.

My most recent set up is my attempt at Hollywood glamour ( a totally different kettle of fish). My face and body lends itself more to the 50s, pin up style. Glamour done well is fantastic though, and I am very jealous of girls that are so effortlessly sexy.

Glamour = the focus of the images is the model's own sex appeal.

To put it another way, while other kinds of photography might sell a handbag or a political opinion or might illustrate or enhance a news item, with glamour photography the model is the product.

Big differences between glamour, glamorous and "bums and tits"

It would be much simpler if coy and undefinable terms such as glamour could be avoided. It is more helpful if a model can clearly indicate the levels she is comfortable with and the levels she does not want to do, clearly, in the text of her profile. Most important is the levels she does not want to work to. Glamour is too subjective a term to have any general meaning. But saying "I model lingerie, full nude but not open leg" is unambiguous.

I don't have glamour ticked, but I think some of my stuff has been glamour-ish. But as Ravenlily says my idea glamour might not agree with everyone else's idea of glamour. Especially as I don't do topless or above.  My definition of glamour is photography where the image is about the model, selling the model if you like. Not selling the clothing, accessories etc. Doesn't necessarily have to be all about boobs or bums.

There is a huge difference between Purestorm/Matt Harper/tits and ass/chavvy/duckface glamour than say, IainT's photos.

Is that unsolicited critique of Mr Harper's work perchance? :)

I never said Purestorm glamour was a bad thing ;)

Interesting comment ... I think it's a lot more complex than just having the right body. I'm not talking about porn, just glamour. I think you shape your body for art nude but glamour has to be acted.

There's bums and tits in fine art nude but that doesn't make it glamour. Vargas understood glamour and he was drawing not taking photographs http://pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=vargas
