Hello and welcome to my little space here on PurplePort. I first joined this site several years ago while working on a short university project and have now found my way back.
I have had a strong interest in portrait photography since I first picked up a film camera at college. I like to believe my style is more editorial than fashion/glamour in the sense that I enjoy creating images that say something about the person/people I am working with. I don't do lots of retouching and prefer a more 'as shot' look to my images, often shooting in natural & available light rather than in the studio.
My work has taken several different directions over the years, but one thing has remained a constant. Nature and the natural world have always been a consistent influence on my personal projects. I am always interested in experimenting with new creative techniques and believe there is always something new to learn.
I first shot film during my first year at college. We were encouraged to work with black & white film, developing and printing in the dark room. While I don't tend to loose entire days in the dark room hand printing anymore, I still enjoy shooting on film and have started a collection of 35mm & medium format film cameras.
In contrast, I also keep up to date with full frame digital as well. There are some situations where shooting film is simply too expensive or impractical to add any benefit to the shoot.
