Hello!

Thanks for looking at my profile.  

I am an enthusiastic hobbyist photographer.  I've been taking pictures all my life but only started doing model photography in 2016.  I have good studio space at home but am now trying to do more location shooting for a richer environment, but still like the contrast of style from both ways of working.

I like to do a couple of shoots a month but sometimes that's not possible and sometimes shoots bunch up.

I like working with new models but have also worked with several models numerous times. I find this leads to a better creative process where communication is easier and we both know what works well with the other. So I am always on the lookout for models who I can work with more than once.

I am happy to work with models with less experience and don't mind giving guidance or more direction during a shoot. I am happy to work on a TF basis on collaborative projects if you want to work with me.

I have no problem with models contacting me if they genuinely want to work with me but am less pleased to get direct messages from models just looking to fill up their calendars.

On the shoots that I cast, I usually choose models with a bit of experience, which usually means the model works on a paid for basis. This is a hobby for me but I still like to get a standard model release on a paid shoot just so I have acknowledgement that it was a paid shoot and I have permission to show the photos wherever I choose.

Inspiration and Style

I try not to repeat myself too much and am always looking to try new styles and techniques. I enjoy looking at other people's work and am always looking for inspiration. They say imitation is the best form of flattery. But is is also a fundamental part of the creative process. Anyone interested in that idea should watch this video: Everything is a Remix.

I tend to work with female models (but wish there were more male models available here). That means I am usually focusing on femininity. I like images to be sensual and striking, but am also keen to tell more of a story and give things a context rather than just a model standing in a void.

Some shoots suit strong makeup but generally I prefer a more natural look. Some models will even be comfortable with no makeup. Largely I leave hair and makeup decisions to the model. However, I particularly dislike long and/or coloured fingernails as these often clash with the other colours in the composition.
