Hello,
Light and light play are what inspires my photography. I am originally trained as a theatrical lighting designer and later lighting designer for fashion, entertainment, broadcast and architecture and this work informs how I "see"
I like a collaboration whenever possible and enjoy exploring an aesthetic that is directly informed by those who I work with. I like working with light. I also try to create images that I term an "intimate perspective" which is vaguely along the lines of painter, Joan Semmel, one of her paintings is the second image in my instagram. I would describe it as a camera forward perspective, the perspective of someone present and familiar. I am interested to learn what images, genres that spark your interest so that we might find a commonality.

"Tim Becker is an award winning director, designer, producer and photographer whose work focuses on the visceral power of light, capturing emotive and intimate moments.
His lighting designs for theatre, events, specialty architecture, and broadcast television span 3 decades. He designed the lighting for The Empire State Building, two Frank Gehry buildings including The Experience Music Project in Seattle and Bio Museo, the first Gehry creation in Central and South America, located in Panama City, Panama. You can see his work at dozens of museums around the country, including The Gettysburg Cyclorama, The Chicago Historical Museum, The Sports Museum of America and the Woodstock Musuem at Bethel Woods.
Tim attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, and received a Bachelor's degree in Dramatic Art. He earned a Masters in Fine Art from the University of California, San Diego. Tim's work has been featured in international publications and media. He is a recipient of award grants from the National Endowment of the Arts and The Princess Grace Awards.
