Breaking all the rules.

When I first got into model photography back in 2003, I would stick by all the photographic rules and am 100% certain that this image would have gone straight into the dustbin due to the harsh light, the savage flare, the fact that I forgot to get Erica to remove her watch, plus an angle shows she had a bit of a tummy. Now 19 years later when I now know that rules are not always necessary, and that imagination, creativity and just pleasing images are more important, I can look at this with a different perspective and enjoy it. It was Erica's first ever photo shoot and I had only met her on one occasion prior to the shoot. It was also only my second or third model shoot. We were both fumbling for ideas and poses but over a period of a few months and three shoots later I had got to know her very well and can remember that tigress look in her eye that I never noticed at the time. Now it's out of the dustbin. Fond memories.
