" interests, desires and goals with photography".
Wow! A task and a half for someone my age who is wondering if he's got Alzheimers! But here goes:
I took an interest in photography when I was about 9 or 10. My father let me use his Box Brownie. That is until he learned that I was going to cost him a weekly fortune in developing and printing. I was fascinated how I could capture a perfet image with just the click of a button. And since I couldn't draw or paint, this was the next best thing.
In years to come I would buy my own cameras and develop my skills further. I joined camera clubs. I was asked on a regular basis to use my camera in work. Eventually, I found digital and was hooked. No more carrying different films for daylight or tungsten, different ISO ratings, colour or black and white, bracketing exposures in the studio to make sure correct exposures, etc., etc.
To improve. It sounds cliché but I always see room for improvement especially when I see the work of others. I would also like to expand my photography to include other genres.
It's a difficult one. I've already said "to improve" but it is important. I would love to get a few photographs correct straight out of the camera. I know before, it was common to choose your film/developer combination and then choose again in the darkroom along with a bit of burning and dodging and a few other tricks to get the finished print you wanted. And the same can be said today for digital using Photoshop, but I still aim for that "perfect" shot.
I used to a lot of stage shots - musicals and operas - but that is now over for various reasons. I did do some dance shots but nothing I would be excited to show people. My main goal at the moment is to shoot some special ballet shots using speedlites.
And that's about it.
