Hi, I'm Sam 👋🏻

I'm a software engineer but photography is one of my hobbies. I enjoy photographing confident people that know how to work the camera. I like to photograph in natural light and am all about a relaxed, fun shoot, where we can explore wherever we are and find cool shots! I'd really like to be doing glamour photography (non-nude).

I'm here because I want to practise: composing good shots along with the post-processing and editing of photos; and to learn more techniques and develop my style. But I need to find models some models! I'm not in this to make money; I'm happy to do shoots and give you the photos for free. Lets help each other out!

If you're a model and this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please get in touch!

If you want to know more...

My childhood was all about music. I play guitar, piano and sing. I went to college and university to do music, and graduated with a degree from Bath Spa University.

I started taking photographs when I was working as a musician on a cruise ship because I was travelling to, and seeing, beautiful places every day. I enjoy the spontaneous nature of walking down streets or hiking nature trails, or any other such adventure, and looking for interesting compositions for photographs along the way.

My Instagram showcases some of my travel photos (I'll upload them in my portfolio here if I ever find the hard-drive they're on...). Here's a couple of notable favourites:

  • A babbling brook in Ushuaia, Argentina [link removed]
  • A colony of penguins in the Falkland Islands [link removed].

But it wasn't long before I released that I love taking photos of people. When I gave up the cruise ship job I started a small business doing headshots for actors and dancers. These are the photos I've uploaded to my portfolio. Meeting people and taking and editing pictures was the fun part, but the self-employed lifestyle wasn't for me.

So I started training to be a software engineer. It took some time, but I got there. I'm really happy in my job and now I have the freedom to pick up hobbies again, which is why I'm here!

My instagram is a smattering of all sorts, but you can find some nice stuff there. Look me up: @samuelcbird.
