Goal!

This is when my home town team Cheltenham Town scored their first goal against Grimsby in a vital promotion game, April 2016. It was a happy moment for me as it was the start of the final push back to league football and the Robins won all their last 5 games winning the league with 101 points.

This was from a free kick, a chance there could be a goal so I set my Nikon 7000 to high continuous shots and did multiple pics to capture this moment.

From a photographers point of view, I wanted to catch some action shots of the game. But it was a night game so less light, my Sigma 18-300 is a good all-purpose lens but not what a professional would use for this. I would have liked the goalkeeper to be frozen in his dive. I'm behind the opposite goal so needed full zoom, but I can't use the full zoom at less than F/6.3 so even at an ISO3200 and +0.3 exposure I had to use 1/50sec shutter speed, which was not the right one for this action shot. But no other way with this lens.

Still, I'm very happy I captured this moment with my camera!
