Hi, my name is Ray Jessi, 

 

I am a make-up artist & stylist with over ten years experience in my industry. Editorial work and make-up is my absolute passion, and whilst the pursuit of excellence in my craft is exciting, the genuine art involved is equally rewarding.

im proud that all our shoots have FPI’s and now on 30+ since joining the teams on PP especially with mick Payton studios who I lead in MUA and styling for . The working relationships are very rewarding and I’ve met some incredible models and photographers . I’m trusted with set designing MUA/hair and styling on micks workshops . 

Creating a vision and then bringing it to life has thrilled me since earliest childhood and I am delighted to have been able to make that joyful activity the bedrock of my career.

 

Over the years I have acquired a rich, extensive and diverse variety of skills, enabling me to work with a wide range of clients to create bespoke looks that serve their particular needs.

 

Thanks to this huge skillset I am equally comfortable and highly adept at everything from modern edgy approaches to the more classic, simple and elegant styles. Whatever techniques I utilise, they are always applied with my hallmark precision and attention to detail. 

 

I am also very mindful to keep my work fresh: identifying trends on the horizon, embracing the new and developing my own original looks has always featured as an essential part of my career.

 

In 2016 I was fortunate enough to train under the remarkable and award-winning Elaine Myers-Jones, at her highly regarded School of Make-up. Elaine is a hugely successful make-up artist in the editorial industry, as well as a celebrity make-up artist, and her tutelage was invaluable. 

 

My training covered fashion, editorial, bridal, beauty, creative, film/tv and special effects, as well as basic hair skills for editorial fashion. I completed over 160 hours and earned a full Diploma in Fashion/Editorial Make-up Artistry.

 

In the years since, I have worked as a freelance make-up artist with private clientele and professional photographers, resourcefully and successfully balancing the demands of building a career with the complex medical needs of my daughter, who was born prematurely.  Looking ahead, my ambition is to further my work in editorial fashion, forging relationships with major brands and leading photographers.

 

Practising the extremely high level of excellence required is something that I relish, for fortunately my ADHD - whilst challenging in some situations - comes with the neurodiverse capacities for hyperfocus and flow, (more commonly thought of as being ‘in the zone’). This allows me to maintain an unusually prolonged and intense level of attention upon tasks that interest and reward me. Make-up is such a task and thus I’ve transformed what might be a hindrance into a powerful asset.

I charge 45 per hour with 2 hour minimum booking.
