Had an excellent remote editing session this evening with Alicia.

It's been a while (just over a year!) since she first introduced me to editing with Lightroom and Photoshop and it was great to have a refresher course today to remind me of the things I've forgotten and show me more of the tricks she has up her sleeve for creating the fabulous edits that she is well known for, both here and over on her model port.

In a couple of hours we were able to do a complete edit of a shot from our shoot in October, including all the necessary adjustments in Lightroom before going into Photoshop for retouching, frequency separation and dodging/burning. This is where the real magic happens, and I'm very pleased to have learnt in more detail how to make the skin glow in that beautiful way we have come to expect from Alicia's own edits. We finished up with some judicious use of liquify and some subtle effects filters. The final edit was delivered immediately afterwards via Dropbox, and you can see the result online soon :-)

And with Alicia being a brilliant photographer too, she was also able to cover such pre-editing matters as how to compose a shot to avoid problems with exposure (loss of detail caused by overexposure or blotchiness caused by underexposure), ugly shadows or white balance and colour-grading issues, thus making the editing process that much easier in the first place!

It's always a pleasure to spend time with Alicia. She's just as charming, fun and informative via Zoom as she is in person, and the Zoom element this evening added the delightful extra dimension of brief visits from her two beautiful four-legged friends! :-)

I had my first shoot with Alicia the other day

And I’m so glad we arranged for myself to come down to bath and shoot at her Wonderful apartment.

Firstly I was blown away with how beautiful the apartment truly is

High ceiling, big windows from floor to ceiling -

Lots of natural light !!!

The furniture also Gives a very glam feel

So if you’re looking for a place Which is elegant And sophisticated Alicia place would be perfect to shoot at.

Alicia herself comes across warm, friendly, and just genuinely lovely woman to be around.

Honestly throughout the shoot she made me feel so comfortable it felt like I’ve known her for years.

I am so glad I got to use this amazing space before the world came to a halt. As a shooting space, Alicia's studio is large, immaculately maintained, furnished without clutter and has windows to die for. The light was soft on our overcast day but the full length shutters made light control simplicity itself. I cannot speak to highly of the place itself...

...and Alicia is an exemplary host. Clear and polite communications, hassle free entry and a general air of professionalism make shooting here a very happy and satisfying experience.

I booked Alicia's flat to shoot in and was really happy with it as a location. It's a really beautiful space to work in and we managed to get some great results.

Communication before the shoot was first rate and everything went smoothly and to plan on the day. I would definitely recommend using the flat and I hope to do so again in the future.

She was again really warm and lovely, setting me right at ease from the beginning of the shoot, super interesting to talk to about any topic and the shoot goes by so quickly.

She is very talented and has a lot of knowledge of photography. We shot in her apartment which is absolutely gorgeous. She definitely has an eye for design, helpful for photography.

Pre comms were great and I knew exactly what to take with me. She is just such a lovely person and I had an overall great shoot!

Light Master Photography's mastery of light and photography also extends into the field of post-processing, and today I had my second session learning all about the essential tricks to make the often bland and underexposed images coming out of the camera into things of beauty.

Tuition was given in both Affinity and Lightroom/Photoshop, and also included further software such as Color Efex Pro.

All the main features of the software were covered, from pre-development adjustments including exposure, blackpoint, HSL, colour temperature, and shadows/highlights, to editing tools such as dodging/burning, sharpening/blurring, healing, painting and even an introduction to more advanced techniques such as frequency separation.

Helpful guidance was also provided in how to use all these things to perform such tasks as making eyes more, err, eye-catching, wiping out graininess in dark areas, increasing detail in hair, toning down excessively bright or shiny patches and removing blemishes and bags under eyes, all with a proper consideration for where the light sources are.

Alicia is talented and passionate as both a model and a photographer, and it's no surprise that her enthusiasm for all things photographic spills over into the world of editing too. She's also really lovely and fun to be around, which makes her the perfect tutor.

I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn how to give their photographs that professional look :-)

My first shoot with Light Master was fab I enjoyed so much 😁

First of all she's an amazing person whoes so lovely and sweet and good to chat to. Pre communication was great and she told me what she had in mind for the shoot.

She let me know what inspires her and honestly I love her style of images and the atmosphere shes after in the images. I'm more for the relaxed vibe and chilled feel and her work is exactly that 👌🏼 Alicia made me feel comfortable at all times and it felt like I was having a fun shoot with a friend.

I was Alicia's first model she has booked on Purple Port and I was more than happy to work with her and want to work together again. I can feel her passion for photography and I cannot wait to see her progress further and watch her work as time goes by. If she messages you, shoot with her! 💯
