I'm Charlotte (she/they), a London-based portrait and alternative fashion photographer with 15+ years experience in photography. I took an extended hiatus due to some technical hiccups (a broken camera and a corrupted hard drive causing me to lose all of my photos - you may notice some images on my profile with horrible old watermarks which are all I have left of this era 😢) but now I've got a working camera I'm looking to get back into some light shooting.
I used to have a PurplePort many years ago (Ravenblakh Photography) so sadly I don't have the lovely references I received back then, but I'm happy to point you in the direction of people I've shot with in recent years for any reassurance.
Availability 🗓️
I work full-time so I'm only available on weekends and rare weekdays. I'm available to shoot across London, in particular the South East of London.
Rates 💸
I'm happy to shoot TF with folks who I feel align with my style - I want to shoot less 'pretty' and more 'interesting'. These days I'm keen on portraiture, so people with distinctive features and a unique face are people I'd love to hear from! While my conceptual side is a bit more restrained than it used to be, I still enjoy shooting dark, cinematic inspired work and I still love working with alternative models - currently I'm keen to work with other members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I'm also a huge Twin Peaks nerd, so anything Lynchian and atmospheric is very much of interest.
I'm also available for paid shoots and can provide quotes depending on the type of product and work required upon request. Please note that I do not shoot weddings.
On the Day 📸
I'll always bring a chaperone with me to shoots who will act as a reflector holder or bag holder and I'm happy for you to bring your own chaperone for peace of mind (if they're willing to lend a hand, then even better!). I like to start my shoots with a quick stop in a coffee shop to give us a chance to fuel up and have a chat before going straight into photos. I always shoot on location, usually in nature - if you know a good secret spot, I'd love to hear about it!
My approach to shooting is light touch - I'm happy for you to lead on posing and I'll only ask for the occasional tweak here and there to ensure we get the best shot. I also try to keep my shooting time tight so we're not over exhausting anyone and you can still get some extra time out of your day.
If you have any accessibility needs or would like us to take our shooting at a slower pace for any reason (no need to specify why), do feel free to let me know ahead of shooting or on the day and I'll make sure we're working in a way that's best for you. We'll have no burnout in this saloon, folks 🐎
After the Shoot 🖥️
I'm happy to share back of camera previews on the day and if we get time, you're welcome to have a whizz through the memory card to point out any particular shots you like.
While I enjoy playing with colours in editing, my retouching style takes a less-is-more approach; I'll touch up skin, lighting and the odd awkward clothing fold, but I'm not interested in anything that will drastically change your appearance or figure, so please bear this in mind if choosing to shoot with me.
I provide 6-8 fully edited images from TP shoots within a month of shooting, only falling out of that range in exceptional circumstances which I'll communicate (for example, if I'm ill shortly after shooting 🤒).
