Firstly I am a hobbyist with aspirations one day to perhaps sell a few photographs but that is not my prime reason for joining Purple Port. Essentially I like to write, and photographs (my own) are useful to supplement that. Mainly I like wildlife photography (insects and macro) but developed my interest in models via a PP member and friend. I am learning all the time. I don't want to just point and shoot a camera, and photographing people needs to be creative, and a two-way positive process. It also needs to be FUN and that is of paramount importance.

Let me give you an example of something I have in mind. I write for chess magazines and my own website. I want to do a column about black and white pieces, and black and white players. I would very much like to use my own photographic material to supplement this - using a black model and a white model to show that there are no barriers to the game in terms of age, colour, sex etc. PP seems to me to be the ideal place to find such models and resulting photographs would grab the attention for the reader.

I have already photographed members on this site and we have all enjoyed the experience. Feedback has been very well received and appreciated. I love my chess, I read, write, walk and show my two dogs, love sport, music (heavy metal and classical!), comedy, poetry, travel and natural history photography. I am the author of natural history travelogues and many magazine articles. I am married with no kids but two rambunctious border collies!

At the end of any photographic shoot session I want myself and the model to be happy in the knowledge that it was fun and worthwhile.
