Hi there, I’m a general photographer, with a particular interest in wildlife, now looking to develop portrait and people photography skills. I’m also a mature, grown up and all round decent human being, if I may say so myself.

I’m passionate to develop a broad portfolio of portrait and people photography; I recognise that I am at the very beginning of that journey but find that hugely exciting as I see myself and my work in that regard as a ‘blank canvass’ of possibility. I‘m hoping that my time on Purple Port will bring me into contact with a diverse range of fellow creatives who can help me both reveal and develop my own style. I do have my own ideas and aspirations but wholly recognise the value of collaboration; it’s clear that most people will have more experience than me at present and I’m wholly fine with that. I am genuinely receptive to ideas, suggestions and even a challenge, providing it’s legal of course!

My style aspirations are somewhat embryonic, however, I know that I’m not drawn to photograph topless or nude, not that there is anything ‘wrong’ with that genre but it’s not currently something I’m looking to shoot. I do like ‘clean’ almost minimalist style images and if it doesn’t sound corny, that capture the beauty and allure of the subject, in whatever way that is expressed. I do like classic portraiture but equally, I am hoping that there are some folk out there who might awaken and shake up an interest in unconventional and alternative styles.

I have been described as having a relaxed and easy-going manner, which of course I would agree with!

I come from a professional background; partnership working based on trust and mutual respect are the cornerstones of my work ethic and I look forward to working with other like minded creatives who share those values.

Although it is a ‘hobby’, I am serious about my photography; I have invested greatly and will continue to do so. If I say I will ‘be there’, I will and probably half an hour beforehand. I hate letting people down, so I don’t……a booking is a booking and barring death or some other catastrophic event, I will always turn up. That said, I appreciate there are times when postponement is necessary, e.g. a thunderstorm on an outdoor beach shoot (!) and I have the good sense and disposition to go with the flow in those circumstances. Despite my serious tendencies, I do have a good sense of humour and very open to having fun at work.
