Parklands Studio is a private photographic studio and 13 acre location set in the heart of the Midlands (LE10 3AH).
The studio is available for independent hire, commercial hire, and photography and photoshop tuition.
Parklands Studio also offers photographers the opportunity to work with several professional touring models each and every month.
The large studio space at Parklands Studio has everything a photographer needs to create wonderful creative studio imagery.
Lighting, both strobe and continuous, as well as mains and battery-powered, is provided, as well as a range of modifiers, backdrops, triggers, remotes, fixings, reflectors, stands, props and many other photographic aids.
Photographers are welcome to bring their own lighting equipment should they so wish.
Parklands Studio is situated within 13 acres of privately owned land, and provides a wonderfully varied and creative opportunity for both photographers and models alike, as well as commercial clients.
The location encompases a number of diverse and distinct features, rendering it suitable for a wide range of creative projects. These features include a 3 acre lake, industrial units and machinery, a stable area, several ponds and much, much more.
On site at Parklands Studio is an industrial area that can be easily utilised for photographic purposes.
As this is a working site, models and photographers assume all responsibility for their health and safety when shooting.
In addition to the studio, location and industrial area, Parklands Studio also boasts many outbuildings, such as an apartment, a workshop, and a wooden cabin.
The hire charge for independent bookings at Parklands Studio is £20 per hour. This fee grants a licence for one photographer to shoot one model, and includes the use of the studio, location, and outbuildings, as well as the available photographic lighting, kit and props.
Please note that a different hire charge applies for group shoots and/or workshops, as well as commercial work. The hire rate is dependent on the details and requirements of each individual booking.
In respect of independent bookings, a cancellation fee will not apply if the booking is cancelled more than 2 weeks prior to a scheduled date.
If a cancellation is requested less than 2 weeks before a scheduled booking, no charge will be incurred if an alternative date is booked in at time of cancellation, otherwise the full cost of studio hire may be requested (dependent on the circumstances).
If a cancellation occurs within 48 hours of an agreed booking date, 100% of the total booking fee will be required.
Booking Confirmation & Payment
All bookings must be confirmed by Parklands Studio, even if an initial approach has been made directly to a model.
A booking will not be confirmed until a name, address, email and contact number have been provided.
Payments can be made by bank transfer or cash.
Parklands Studio operates a ‘multi-booking policy’ which means that on any given day, more then one booking may be in place at the same time. This is permissible due to the size and scope of the grounds at Parklands Studio.
Both photography and photoshop tuition are available on site at Parklands Studio, and sessions are undertaken by the studio’s owner Joel Hicks.
Joel is a professional actor, model and photographer, and tuition sessions are tailored to the specific needs of each client, regardless of their level of experience.
Sessions cost £50ph, and during photography tuition sessions Joel will act as both the tutor and model, unless a female model is specifically requested.
The Photography Club
The Photography Club at Parklands Studio is a members only photography club, suitable for photographers of all abilities.
The club aims is to provide a friendly and supportive environment, where by photographers can develop their skills and learn new photographic techniques amongst fellow enthusiasts.
Sessions, which typically run for 2 hours and cost £30 per person, involve different models working to different genres, themes and levels on each occasion.
Tuition, guidance and advice is provided, however no session is prescriptive, and photographers are encouraged to produce imagery that is distinct to their own individual style.
Any photographers interested in joining the club should contact Parklands Studio directly.
Photography club members also enjoy exclusive discounts and benefits.
For freelance models, organising a tour and accommodation at Parklands Studio is very easy and straight-forward.
Step 1: The Contact Form
Initially models need to fill out the contact form.
The contact form requests some basic information, such as contact information, levels, rate and a link to an online portfolio.
In addition, applying models are required to specify two tour dates, approximately 3-4 months apart. Having two tour dates on the calendar has been found to be far more effective and productive.
It should be noted that Parklands Studio also operates a deposit system in respect of all touring models, and that a tour will only be confirmed once a £20 deposit for every scheduled day of shooting is paid. By example, if a model wishes to utilise Parklands Studio for a 3 day tour, a £60 deposit is required before confirmation. On attendance, this deposit is set aside to cover all accommodation costs. Any cancellation of a tour, or lack of attendance, results in loss of the deposit.
Step 2: Confirmation
On completing the contact form, applying models will receive an email outlining whether their application has been successful in respect of the requested tour dates. If so, the email will request payment of the deposit (via bank transfer) as well as a selection of images that can be used to advertise the tour.
Once the deposit has been transferred, and the images provided, a confirmation email from Parklands Studio will be sent alongside a selection of flyers to use for advertising purposes.
Step 3: Advertising & Promotion
A tours success is always dependent on both the studio and model actively promoting and advertising the tour.
Parklands Studio will advertise every tour through its social media channels, its website and its newsletter.
Similarly, touring models are expected to:
- Promote the tour regularly on social media;
- Advertise on freelance networking websites; and
- Make direct contact with photographers in the area who have expressed an interest in working with them.
When publicising a tour online, models should always use the relevant Parklands Studio social media handle.
Step 4: Bookings
When a tour booking is confirmed with a photographer through Parklands Studio, the touring model will be informed immediately.
They will be told the name of the photographer, specific contact information, and the time slot arranged. It is then expected that the touring model will make contact with the photographer to arrange any specific shoot details.
Please note that, unlike other studios, models are able to shoot from first light until late into the night. As such, there are no ‘set hours’ during a tour.
If a touring model receives a booking enquiry, the model is required to provide the name, address, email and contact number of the photographer, as well as the time slot requested. The booking will then be confirmed with the photographer by email.
Step 5: The Tour
A touring model is responsible for all aspects of their stay, with tours at Parklands Studio designed to be totally self-sufficient and extremely comfortable.
If travelling by train, a pick up service from either Hinckley Station or Rugby Station is available with prior arrangement. If travelling by car, Parklands Studio has a large and secure ‘visitors car park’.
Accommodation is in the form of an open-plan apartment, located directly above the studio. The apartment, which may also be used during bookings, includes a kitchen and bathroom, and models will be required to cook and clean for themselves. During any tour, arrangements can be made to visit one of the many supermarkets in the area.
With respect to all scheduled bookings, models are expected to ‘meet and greet’ the photographer, provide them with a tour if they have not visited the site before, and coordinate all aspects of the shoot itself, including the collection of all monies due.
During any downtime, touring models are free to relax onsite, use any of the amenities in the apartment, or venture in the surrounding area.
Step 6: Completion
Once a tour is completed and all bookings have been undertaken, the studio and accommodation should be left in a presentable and acceptable state.
All monies will be settled at this point.
As on arrival, if travelling by train, a drop off service to either Hinckley Station or Rugby Station is available with prior arrangement.
