I did a skype shoot with Jurjen today and it was great. He directed very well and knew what he wanted. It was great to be able to show him on camera and him direct a little poses and lighting for the photographer and I think we got some beautiful images and some great fun ones also :)

I was really looking forward to working with Jurjen during my European mega tour as we had spoken earlier in the year about shooting when I was over in the Netherlands on a previous trip but availability just hadn’t worked out on that occasion. So he was one of the first people I spoke to when I found out that I’d be returning, and; hurray! We did it! :D

Jurjen was simply a joy to work with, a joy in every way. He was a real gentleman from the very start: picking me up from my accommodation where I’d been staying the evening before hand helping me transport my heavy case (with it’s broken wheel!) to the studio where we would work and up the stairs. Then he made certain to get me a lovely cup of herbal tea brewed up before we started working to ensure I was settled and comfortable before the shooting commenced. He really goes out of his way to make models feel safe, relaxed and in good spirits for the shoot. An utter gentleman through-and-through with class professional conduct that I have no end of good praise for. :) This set the time for us to have an absolutely wicked photo shoot for sure!

The pictures we made? Oh gosh, just where do I start? TOO MANY GOOD ONES HAHA! :P Jurjen’s studio that he had access to for our shoot was simply a dream for character and natural light, it’s very clear when you walk in the room that you’re going to get good pictures. And since Jurjen has phenomenal creative competence and talent working the space and absolutely slaying that light in all circumstances... Every set had winning pictures. :) It was one of those days where you actually struggled to think what the “picture of the day” might be: there were several haha! Jurjen had some excellent ideas: he clearly knows what works in a picture and can direct as per the light and what he sees in the frame. Alas; he is very easy to strike a mutual working rapport with, and with this: was very happy for me to do my thing and give input too. Therefore we just bounced off each other all the way. :D The light we had on the day was rather changeable which also gave us different opportunities! But when one minute it’s bright direct sun and then the next it’s all soft: this can mean that the photographer has their work cut out constantly managing the conditions. Did it phase Jurjen? Oh not at all! :D

We did arty, we did emotive, we did edgy and we did sassy... We just rocked it! I cannot thank Jurjen enough for contacting me that very first time, because even though we did not get chance to shoot right at that instant: it was well worth the wait and keeping in touch. :)
