My aims
This has three main strands for me. I'm looking to expand my stock photography portfolio so keen to find commercial models that can help me with a range of people focused themes that will sell in the rights managed and royalty free markets. Equally keen on finding natural looking scenarios and locations to create shoots from.
in most cases for the commercial stuff I’ll be looking for a model release to be signed.
The second part is the love of creating images I'd want to look at and admire. And, possibly, have others like them enough to consider purchasing them as art. These tend to be more editorial fashion and fine art nude themes.
The final element is I'm happy to pick up where I left off working with actors, dancers and entertainers that need headshots and images for their ports, at reasonable rates.
Currently I'm without a studio. This may be a possibility down the road, but it's early days yet. Keen to see what is createable in other people's spaces, for now.
Working with me
I don't know why you would, I'm a terrible slave driver and as one model succinctly put it I don't know how to make a proper brew. I deny this vehemently.
I take my craft seriously, myself much less so.
My many references are probably a better indication of what it's like to shoot with me than I can put into words.
I like a laugh, shooting to good music and for a free exchange of ideas to flow in a true collaboration, regardless of who is paying who. There's something about the rush of like minded souls creating in the moment that I've never found in any other walk of life. It's something else when it happens.
My process
Pre-shoot I'll usually put together a moodboard but these are very much jumping off points.
On shoot day, I like to start with a chat and a brew - in most cases we'll never have met each other before so why would we jump into shooting without trying to understand one another and our respective aims for the session?
We'll run through the wardrobe you've brought and agree the first few looks, dependent on shoot length.
From there, set up/make up time aside, we'll shoot circa 40 images per look which means most looks take no more than 15 minutes to nail. The record in my studio was 13 looks in a half day shoot. We were on fire that day.
And that's about it, dependent on the agreement around payment/trade and images being made available, I aim to have rough edits with you in a day or two and edited images within a week of your selection of chosen images.
