Taking my first images with a film camera was a moment of awakening for me. It felt like I was suddenly able to capture emotions, moments, and experiences in a genuinely meaningful way. But why did it take stepping back in time technologically to arrive at this point? Simple: digital photography just didn't give me the love affair I needed with my art form.
Digital photography has made taking photos easier than ever - with the click of a button, you can create an image to capture your memory! But I found the challenge of film-based photography helped me become a better photographer. With limited shots and every photo feeling precious, I really had to think about each shot before pressing that shutter trigger. When transitioning back to digital, these same values stayed with me and catapulted my skills as a photographer even further.
